Mold minefield
It was hit or miss on the figs I got. Many were very dark and moldy, while some were good. This inconsistency isn't safe or worth my money. I recommend not buying this brand!

Great taste
Overall these figs are great. Unfortunately, a few did have mold inside. I ended up cutting each fig in two to check for mold before eating them. But realistically, fresh fruit from the grocery store also has a percentage of poor quality. You just have to sort through them.

A mix of great, OK and hard dry figs
I am starting to wonder if all of the dried smyrna fig brands come from the same source? About 25% are big moist flavorful figs with tender skins, about 50% are OK figs that are fairly dry decent flavor and a few with very dry chewy skin then the rest are barely edible with very tough dry skins dry insides and ok to nasty flavor I sometimes gotta spit out. Always a few very dark overripe ones with OK to nasty flavor. I have tried 3 brands and all have been about the same. The real light shaded ones in the photo seem sunburned and have Very tough skins. This is a better than average batch. Their quality control is a little lacking. But still 95% are edible and most are pretty good.
