Great product
Loved the product and enjoyed using it. I watched the video first which was a great help. If you follow the steps given its extremely easy to use. I'm surprised at how good the end finish looks. My only slight disappointment is the final glitter coat. I thought there'd be more sparkle.

Great product!
I am really impressed with this product! I want to invest in stone countertops eventually but this turned out so well that I can hold off for a few more years. It was really easy to use and the directions were really clear. The most difficult part of this project was removing the old caulking from around the sink. I followed the directions to a T and in total it took 1 weekend to get this completed. I can't speak to the durability factor just yet but the top coat adds a nice sheen and it went on completly smooth. Overall I am very happy.

It is very workable with clear instructions
The first picture is a before. Last year I layed feathering concrete over an ancient countertop that was made of (cracked) tiles that were uneven. After painting it and protecting with polyurethane it looked like the first pic, which was a massive improvement. But it didn't look very real and it yellowed and stained within the year. So I sanded it and used the Giani kit to get the new look. I should have probably made it lighter, but I felt it was looking pretty realistic when I added some veins with a small brush, so I left it at that. I'm really pleased with the result and am considering making it more durable by adding an epoxy layer when it is fully cured. It is also very forgiving, since I never managed to get the feathering concrete a hundred percent flat, having put it over a surface that was very uneven to begin with. Now it looks pretty flat.So full marks for this kit, I recommend it.

Everyone thinks we replaced our formica with granite at first glance.
We "remodeled" our kitchen with paint this summer, including the old 70s-era avocado green formica countertops. I'd looked at DIY pages online for instructions on how to repaint formica, and when I found this kit I decided to go with it, since all of the paints had been selected, pre-measured, and it came with the right kind of clear finish. The kit also includes sponges and a roller brush. The instructions were clear, and a DVD is included in the kit to show you how to do the painting. The first step, after cleaning, sanding, and taping, is to roll on a black primer. Then you use the sponges to dab on the minerals. This was a little disconcerting, because as I put them on I was thinking, "Erm, this doesn't look great. Not sure about this." But the third paint to go on is a semi-transparent white, and when that goes on it pulls all of the colors together. After it dries, I put on three thin coats of the clear top coat. One small problem: there is enough topcoat for two coats. The instructions suggest two or three, and I figured three would be better around the sink and the areas that get the most wear. I had to buy an extra can of the top coat. But I plan to do the bathroom counters later, and there's enough of the other paints to do those two small counters, so the extra top coat will be used.Reporting back a little over a year later: The counter top is holding up pretty well. In one spot it did bubble and peel, probably a patch that wasn't prepared well enough. I use plastic mats to protect the surface from appliances in use and to stack dishes on that are waiting to be washed. The only complaint is that there is visible wear on the front edge in places where we do the most kitchen work. That will have to be patched once or twice a year. There is also a small stain from some red packaging that doesn't want to come out. So while this product will never replace actual granite, it does the job pretty well as an inexpensive fix for dated formica counter tops. Just be prepared to do occasional repair on the edges and know it won't last forever. But if you're sick of looking at the 70s formica or just want to freshen the kitchen while saving up for a big remodel, this will get you by for a few years.
