Product Description Two 1970 smash LPs on one CD! Bonus track: CD debut of Oh, I've Been Bless'd from the first LP sessions! .com Gary, Indiana, brothers the Jackson 5 scored pop and R&B No. 1's with their first four singles for Motown, three of which are collected here. The mythical claim that Diana Ross discovered the Jacksons might have helped gain attention, but their talent clearly spoke for itself. A quartet of writer-producers, including company head Berry Gordy, devised a sound that melded the new funk with smooth soul. "I Want You Back," "ABC," and "The Love You Save" were influenced by Sly and the Family Stone while proving their own new, terrific thing. Both kids and adults embraced it: that 11-year-old Michael was a precocious talent amid a strong group dynamic made the 5 undeniable. After the quickly assembled debut LP carrying the Ross credit, their identity as an album act was solidified by 1970's ABC, which found them thoroughly convincing on everything from school-days riffs like the title tune to a cover of Funkadelic's "I'll Bet You." The idea of a group "growing" from disc to disc may be clichéd, but this CD shows it was both literally and figuratively true in the Jackson 5's case. The rare outtake "Oh, I've Been Bless'd" is included as a bonus track. --Rickey Wright

This Is What Started The *LEGACY/LEGEND* Of MJ!
I must admit that I'm one of the few people who didn't care for the Michael Jackson 25th Anniversary of Thriller or any of the songs on it. Nor have I ever been a big MJ fan. But with his recent passing, I wanted to have something from the earlier days to remember him by.Owning The Ultimate Collection , a very good compilation of the Jackson 5's most popular hits, I wanted something a little more substantial. This led me to the re-release of DIANA ROSS PRESENTS THE JACKSON 5 and ABC, which collects the first two Jackson 5 albums onto one CD.These two albums really show off the raw talent that was the Jackson 5. The tunes are catchy and infectious, the vocal harmony is tight, and a very young Michael Jackson--he was 10-years old when "Diana Ross Presents..." was released according to the liner notes--shows off a vocal talent very rarely heard in a child of that age.Despite what you might think of Michael Jackson and the rest of his family, and along with all of the legal troubles and some of the more bizarre behavior he exhibited in the later stages of his life, you'd be hard pressed not to like this double-album CD.Even when they are covering other artist's songs like Stevie Wonder's "My Cherie Amour," The Miracles "Who's Lovin' You," The Temptations "(I Know)I'm Losing You," Sly & The Family Stone's "Stand," as well as others, the Jackson 5 put their own youthful stamp on the hits and make them their own.So even if you, like me, aren't a huge fan of the Jackson 5's work you'll find these songs familiar. There's the original big hits like "I Want You Back," "The Love You Save," and "ABC" that you're bound to know. Also, songs that have been covered by other artists in the 80s/90s like "(I Know) I'm Losing You," I think was covered by Nancy Martinez but Wikipedia credits a group called Uptown, "La-La (Means I Love You)" covered by the Jets, and the intro to En Vogue's "Hold On" uses a cover intro of "Who's Lovin' You," not to mention the various samples used, so these two albums won't be totally unfamiliar.Michael sings lead on most of the songs but there's plenty of sharing on lead with either Jermaine or Jackie (I'm not sure), so you get variety. The CD is 24-bit remastered and contains a fold out book with original liner notes from Diana Ross, updated liner notes from Brian Chin, color pictures, song credit and chart information.Anyway, if you want something a little more than the standard compilation CD get DIANA ROSS PRESENTS THE JACKSON 5/ABC. It's well worth it and you'll be listening to it for years to come.

J5!!!!!
One day, I was thinking to myself: "I have all of Michael Jackson's albums, The Jacksons' albums, but all I have of The Jackson 5 is a compilation album, "The Ultimate Collection". I have none of their original albums". So, to add to my MJ collection, I decided to buy them. I was going to buy them individually, but when I saw that they were part of the series, "Two Classic Albums/One CD", I thought that would be a better deal. It turns out I was right. Both of these albums are true classics. They have some very great songs besides the singles. The first album, "Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5",is a definite classic debut for the group. The next album, "ABC", is a great follow-up to the first album.Favorite songs:Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5:"Nobody""I Want You Back""Can You Remember""Who's Lovin' You""Born to Love YouABC:"The Love You Save""One More Chance""ABC""2-4-6-8""(Come 'Round Here) I'm the One You Need""La La (Means I Love You)""I Found That Girl""The Young Folks"

5 Star Music, 5 Star Presentation!
The J5's first two albums were among the best soul LPs of their era : melodic, funky, and fun; "ABC" is still the best J5 album for all-round quality of material. The real treat here, though, besides the terrific music (you know the hits, but try "Don't Know Why I Love You" (a breathtaking Stevie Wonder cover) or "2-4-6-8" (kiddie music, but fun), is the care lavished on these recordings. If you've heard the old US-released Motown 2-on-1 CD's of the 1980's, you may recall how flat and claustrophobic they sounded. Not these UK reissues. The remastered sound is spacious, dynamic, and ultra-clean. Add to that the classy cardboard slipcovers over the slimline jewel cases containing full reproductions of the front and back LP cover artwork of both LPs and you'll wonder what's up with US Motown that the British are doing a better job with American soul music. Anyway, only "ABC" is currently in print in the US, so you'll be doubly glad to spring for this reasonably-priced import. Added note : According to the booklet, a selection of 2-on-1 1960's Supremes and Temptations CDs are also available in this series. If they're anything like this one....

Jacksons Again
Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5/ABC Kudos to Motown for rereleasing the Jackson 5 2fers that originally surfaced in 1986. With the 2001 rerelease of this series, it is now possible to got back and collect the Jackson 5's early material. This is a great opportunity to own the first two Motown LP's that the Jackson 5 recorded and have them both on one disc. The price is great even without the bonus tracks. Not only do you get the hits, I Want You Back, The Love You Save, and ABC, but you get the brothers take on such Motown classics as, Never Had A Dream Come True, My Cheri Amour, & (I Know)I'm Losing You. Now that I started with this one, I have found myself collecting all the 2fers. Enjoy

Amazing!
From the opening of Michael ripping through "Zip A Dee Doo Dah" it becomes evident that the soul and passion in his voice is magical! The J5's first cds were simply amazing and the funk and rythyms are so tight and solid you will never forget it. "You've Changed" has such depth of lyric and soaring vocals it can be played on loop until u pass out! "I'm The One You Need" is another brilliant track even though the disc was made for mass appeal it was snapped up by adults in the urban areas for its raw energy and gut wrenching song content and the true gems stand out. Sure the mass market singles like "ABC" are great but the energy of the true funk songs will blast you away! The albums are amazing and a must buy for any fan of spectacular music.

Terrible cover and not audiophile
First the quality is not great, but acceptable. Tracks as everyone knows is great. But the disappointing factor is its cover. Mp3 like cover, in paper. Once you take it, kindly don't try to put back, as it is very tight and will scratch your CD. You don't feel possessing it for these reasons
