Good knife but the locking mechanism could be a bit better

While this knife feels more like a showpiece than a serious hardcore tool for field use, it definitely wins in the style department.It's hard to argue with the 'cool factor' of a scythe-esque Karambit complete with a grim reaper printed on the handle. The material of the reaper is even textured like the grip tape of a skateboard, so he even offers tiny bit of functionality.The blade I received was rather dull, but that was nothing a little sharpening and maintenance couldn't fix. The overall build quality is just fair for a knife at this price point. It's FAR from something I would take out to the field with me. The frame didn't feel as sturdy as I'd like to see in a Karambit. You REALLY need to give the blade a good pull so it stays put in the frame lock. A half-effort deployment of the blade could result in the knife failing to lock properly and then digging into your fingers if you're not careful.This is NOT a tool you should bank your safety or your job upon. This is a fun blade for showing off and maybe doing some light slicing tasks with a little flair. That's where it succeeds.This is a great gift to win the heart of the knife enthusiast or edgy teenager in your life... or you can keep it for yourself and pretend you're the grim reaper as as you slash open your packages.
