If you like boardgames, any boardgames, just buy it.
This game is absolutely fantastic and a must own for any board game fans. The game provides scenarios for you to complete as you move through randomized mines and otherworldly locations (in this case an ancient frozen city). The randomization factor ensures that each game is different even if your playing the same scenario. Every aspect of the game is well thought out and implemented, combat is simple to learn but easy to fail at, leveling up can completely change how your character operates, and the loot and experiences you can have on your way to an objective are diverse and interesting. One aspect that increases the fun factor is the fact that after a mission ends the game itself doesnt. You'll finish a mission low on health, sanity, and equipment and you must attempt to make it back to town to resupply, possibly ending up in another awful situation along the way. Once in town you face some really tough decisions as you lick your wounds and prepare to start a whole new and unique mission: do you go to the doctor and try to fix any permanent damage done to your character in the last mission? do you go to the store to buy more bandages and dynamite that you desperately needed just to get you through that last mission? or do you take all the gear you gathered and sell some it to get some unique and potentially game changing gear? you can only go to one of the many locations in town in a day and each day you stay in town increases the chance of something terrible happening keeping the tension up even when shopping and ensuring that you must make wise use of your time as whatever you do could ensure victory or defeat in the next mission. This level of thought is seen throughout and on top of all that the game offers so great expansions to make an already amazing game even better.

Lots of assembly required
Word of Warning: This game requires assembly of 14 plastic character models with model glue or super glue. Some of them have really tiny parts that connect together in somewhat difficult ways and it takes patience and care. As I was assembling them I was wishing that someone had at least warned me about it. Be prepared to spend quite a bit of time putting this stuff together.Otherwise the quality is top notch. Even comes with a sound track to set the mood while you play. Have to say I have never purchased a game that felt as high quality as this. They really poured a lot of care into this and you can tell they want their customers to enjoy their games not just milk money from you.The game play is quite enjoyable on multiple levels. The overall theme is similar to many other dungeon explorer games available but something about the core mechanics here feel more enjoyable. The encounters that spawn can get out of hand very quickly but a daunting force of foes can be remarkably fended off in several turns leaving the party feeling nimble and resilient. A very rewarding experience that also rewards players with frequent "slot machine" payoffs of gold and XP at every turn. Even though it can be brutally challenging if you are following all the rules to a T it is still great fun even when you lose as the experience continues with travel and town gameplay that is a whole separate experience where you continue to deal with random events while building your characters between adventures. All in all its like nothing else I have ever played in a board game. The general take away I got was that it feels like playing Dungeons and Dragons but without having to make up the randomness yourself as the game comes with a very well designed random encounter and adventure generation system built in.

The best hybrid of a board game and RPG.
I play a lot of games. This includes role-playing games, board games, and card games. I play board games for a cerebral challenge, and role-playing games for a story. When you have a hybrid of the two, like Descent, Last Night on Earth, or Betrayal at House on the Hill, you will get a little bit of both. However, it won't excel as a board game, or a RPG, but, depending on the game, it will partially satisfy both needs. The same is true with Shadows of Brimstone. I wouldn't say that it's a great board game, or a great role-playing game, but from all the hybrids that I've played, it does admirably in both areas. As a board game, the rules are moderately complex. There are lots of components, but this complexity rewards you with unusual encounters, a randomized map, interesting equipment, and thoughtful combats. As a role-playing game, this game only shines in campaign mode where you keep your character. When you start, you can play one of four types. However, you immediately give them some individuality by receiving a unique personal item, and a special ability. It only gets better from there. Your equipment will help define your character. Your injuries, insanities, and mutations will define your character further. The game even handles the time in between adventures with travel events, and towns.Going to town is almost as fun as the main game. Town consists of a bunch of options. Stay in the inn, or camp? The inn costs money, but the camp can be risky. Once that's decided, you can go to a location like the store, the saloon, blacksmith, doctor, church, and more. At each location, a random event might occur. It might be a sale, a demon attack, or you may find that the place is closed. The entire town might be affected by a random event too.Honestly, there's enough to the rules to make you need to read the instructions a couple of times, and watch some instructional videos. It's worth it though. Once everything clicks in your mind, it just comes alive.

Gran dungeon crawler
El mejor dungeon crawler cthulesco moderno. Las nuevas figuras de está versión son bonitas. Compra un buen pegamento pues requieren ensamblado (muy sencillo). Lo recomiendo junto con la expansión de pueblo fronterizo.
