Lock mechanism stopped working 3 months later
Originally I though this was a very good and high quality lock with an incredible price-quality ratio. First 2.5 months of usage were without any issues, I appreciate how well built it is, quite massive and you can definitely see why it’s Sold Secure GOLD rated. However, after a bit less than 3 months, the locking mechanism began to malfunction. When I put the key in it was suddenly very hard to turn it to unlock. At first it had me struggling for 1 min, but every other day it was more and more difficult to turn the key until one day it stopped working altogether as it was so hard to turn the key that it eventually broke off and a half of it stayed inside the lock, impossible to pull out with tweezers. Keep in mind that I also tried the other key provided just before this happened but with no difference. Ultimately I had to call a locksmith who cut the whole lock with angle grinder (which took him about 1 minute) which cost me £70.Since then I googled a little bit and what you should do to prevent this is lubricate the key/lock with PROPER product. I learned that WD-40 is not suitable for this as it attracts dirt and dust in time and that can also lead to the lock malfunctioning due to getting clogged. I read you should use stuff like Lock-Ease Graphite lock fluid or anything similar made exactly for this.Anyway, this is why I decided to give this company a second chance and reordered the same lock now, as the price is really great for a GOLD rated lock. Hopefully it’s gonna last longer than 3 months with right care now.

DO NOT BUY - BIKE STOLEN AFTER ONE USE
I was very anxious about buying a good look for my new bike and want to make sure it was a secure as it could be. The first time I used this lock to lock up my bike outside my house it was stolen. When I reported it to the police they said there is no lock they would recommend, thieves have new tools now that cut through anything so it doesn't matter what lock you have. I wish I knew this before wasting money on a lock. The only way to keep your bike is to keep it inside.

Buy cheap, buy twice - read this review to save your ££
I found this and, like you, wanted it to work because it’s so much cheaper than anything else. Unfortunately this is a case of buy cheap, but twice. It’s very fiddly to work, the key doesn’t turn well in the lock, the top is stiff and hard to get off and getting it into the holder requires an engineering degree. It’s a real pain to use and slows me down in the morning where i’d say it takes me 4-5 minutes to get this lock on and off, which when you’re trying to just quickly turn things around in the morning is not what you want. This is the first time I’ve written an Amazon review and I’ve just done it to save you money, because now I need to spend £50+ on a second lock and who wants to spend time excess time or money thinking about bike locks?

Not as good a buy as you might think!
Needed a sold secure bike lock to conform with the insurance policy I had just taken out on my new ebike. It certainly looks and feels the part, and at a great price. However, from the first time I tried to unlock it, it was very difficult. I did manage to get it undone, and secured my bike in my shed. Now with the weather being so cold, wet, snowy and icy since buying my bike, I have only ridden it twice to date. Second time I tried to unlock it, it was more difficult than previously, so I lubricated it with 3-in-1 oil before locking it again.Today I decided I would ride my bike to work. And yes you guessed it, couldn't get the lock undone, it took a good 5 minutes of frustrated perseverance to eventually get it off. I fear one day it will be impossible to unlock, so it's not fit for purpose, and I'm going to return it. AVOID!

Heavy but this mean it's secure, only fits into circular frames. Price ☑️!
This is a proper good bike lock, and for 25 quid it's unbeatable really. But a couple or things you need to know before you buy. It is big and heavy obviously. That's why it's good protection. If your frame is not round it won't fit onto your bike. You need to keep the key in turned right to the end to attach the D bar onto the bottom lock. I always carry a rucksack so I keep my lock in there. Bike insurance cost me 80 quid. Just get it, be safe !!! I've only had this one day so unsure how durable it will be but I'm hopefull.

Ridiculously small lock holder that snapped off first ride
The lock itself is a solid piece of deterrent. A lock holder comes with the lock that attaches to the bike frame and the lock slides in. So far so good. I thought it looked a little under engineered, but coming from Germany, thought it'll be ok. Nope. First ride, over a couple of adjoining pot-holes, the holding spigot snapped and the lock fell off. I was travelling around 15MPH, luckily no apparent damage to my bike.

Better than a more expensive one
I had a more expensive option as well and now have 2 bikes that need securing gold sold standard - I like this one better as it has a plastic coating around the u part of the lock so it doesnt scratch the frame of my bike which the other one does!

Locking system disaster.Beware
The lock was a Christmas present - used by my son in University for the past 2 months ,he phoned me yesterday the key snapped in the lock while his bike was attached to a post outside a shop.Had to call a locksmith who had to anglegrind the lock off the post destroying the D lock. Not impressed at all with this.
