A Little More Money, A LOT Less Hassle!
I'll admit I don't use a caulking gun very often. So I've always just used the cheapo versions that generally suck. I recently had a new metal building installed and had a big caulking/sealing job ahead of me. I started with my old, cheap, flimsy caulking gun and quickly realized it was not gonna work for this large job. I ordered the Cox caulking gun. I had no idea they made such a fantastic piece of equipment. This thing made the job effortless. It's extremely well built out of quality materials. It has a swivel barrel, caulk tube piercer, easy squeeze handle...everything just oozes quality. But it doesn't ooze caulk because you just hit the 'ooze-stop' button and it won't continue to be pushed out of the tube. I'll no longer dread having to caulk something now that I have this gun. And the best part is it's NOT made in China!

Best caulk gun ever...
Very well made and engineered caulk gun. Highly recommended. However, mine came scratched also due to the tool not being in a box, just shipped in a thin plastic bag. Amazon put the plastic bag in a paper mailer which appeared to have been rubbed through by a conveyor belt damaging the finish on the tool. If Cox had shipped their product in a box, or if Amazon had shipped it in a proper container I think the finish would have been flawless. Speaking of Cox, they have been bought by the Swiss company medmix. Per their web site; "Headquartered in Eastern Switzerland, medmix Switzerland AG is a renowned producer of all-in-one application systems for the adhesives industry as well as an expert in offering a dedicated range of dispensers distributed under the brands COX™ and MK™." For the moment, Cox is still built in the USA and England. Also the little oil can showing a oil point generally means SAE 30 weight oil, that's what I keep in my oil can. 3-1 or similar should work fine, it's not a precision bearing that requires a particular weight oil. In closing, this caulking gun should be the last one I ever buy. Happy with purchase.

Hierloom qaulity
After finding nothing but Chinese junk at the local big boxes I turned to Amazon. Boy am I glad I did. For a few bucks more I got an extremely well made tool that should last a lifetime. The mechanical advantage on this makes it much easier to use and have better results. If the astronauts needed a caulk gun, this would be it. No longer am I stuck in the cycle of buying a new junk caulk gun every couple of years. Oh and did I mention it's made in USA. All of their products are US or Made in England! cox-applicators.com .

Very Solid, If Solid is What You're After
This is the first "fancy grade" caulk gun I have owned. After breaking a second stamped-steel $6 gun I decided to splurge. I like this applicator overall, but there are drawbacks. The most significant pro is also a con: this caulk gun is very solidly built. All the handle parts appear to be cast instead of stamped, and the only plastic on the entire product is the "flow control" switch, a small tab that allows you to select between the rod locking in place after each actuation or retracting slightly to provide a no-drip functionality (this is not depicted on the Amazon product image, but mine came with it). The downside to this robust construction is that the product is heavy, probably two or three times the weight of a typical stamped-steel caulk gun. This can be tough on your wrist if you are single-handing it. Control is excellent and the pressure is a tremendous boon if you are flowing more viscous substances like subfloor adhesives or Lexel-type sealants. I did not find the extra leverage problematic in the slightest with easy-flowing products like Dap Alex Plus, you just need to ease up on how fast you pump it. Overall, the control on this gun is supremely responsive. There is an attachment point for a lanyard, which is great for rooftop operations. The gun does lack a poking rod for opening products that are sealed in their containers, so don't throw out that extra-long nail just yet, and don't forget your knife, there is no integral tube tip cutter either. Mine came marked as made in Michigan, according to the Cox website all their products are made in house there or at a site in England. Overall, I would recommend this highly if you value control over all else, and need the power to flow very thick substances. If you are running expensive or hard-to-clean products, this gun is probably ideal; I have found the added control cuts down on waste substantially. If you are using mostly very light caulks for painting-type projects, this gun is nice but definitely overkill. I would suggest you go with a lighter, cheaper product like the Cox 41001, and live with the fact that you might break one every few years.

Easy to use huge upgrade
I have been working on houses both professionally and as a homeowner for years and have always used the basic cheap caulking guns you get at big box. I never knew what a difference the quality upgrade would make and for not much more money. Squeeze and control are much, much easier and better. The gun is nicely weighted (not light) and feels like a high quality piece of kit. I am really happy to have gone with this device and it makes the odd caulking jobs much easier. Don’t waste your time and energy over a few dollars. Get this instead!!

Get control of your caulk!
For years I have struggled every time I have used caulk. It was always messy, dribbling extra out at the end. I loaded this up with some Alex flex today and the difference was unreal. First thing I did was lube up the moving parts with some lithium grease. I read that can impact the performance of everything isn't smooth. I engaged the function to stop dripping and the caulk stops when I am done. The people that complain about it still dripping don't understand pressure. Ignore their reviews and give this bad boy a try. Your caulk with behave like it never has before. You will have the control.
