Harrisville DesignsPotholder Deluxe with Cotton Loops

Can you have too many pot holders?
I enjoyed this kit. The loom and hook are made of metal and sturdy. The cotton loops fit perfectly. However I do not think this is a suitable craft for children under ten. Even at that age, adult assistance inserting the last few loops and finishing off would probably be needed. Good value for money if you bear this in mind.

A classic gift.
I bought this as a gift. I should probably get one for myself, for old times' sake.

Lots of fun!
These were purchased as part of a science project/art project for homeschool to discuss weaving. Like a weaver bird might do. They turned out to be such a hit for my kids in every age group that we ordered more. We now give pot holders to everyone that comes to visit :)

Great fun, lots of bright loops, not just for potholders!
There is a lady on the net that shows you how to make much more than just potholders with a potholder loom. She makes scarfs, toys, capes, and on and on! So I thought, what the heck, I'll get one and try it. I am having so much fun, there's a lot to be said about allowing yourself to enter into a second childhood!!I made three potholders, and my husband loved them, they brought back so many memories to both he and I. I showed my neighbor and she begged me to make her some. She too had fond memories of making these when she was a child and wanted some to hang for decoration and even use.I've added a picture of a little purse I made with the loom. It's made from yarn, and has enough room for a small wallet, cell phone and small comb. I'm having a ball with this little loom. There is a lot of potential if you just put your mind to it, relax and enjoy. Also, there is plenty of loops and the colors are beautiful. Very pleased!

Highly suggest buying this heirloom quality set.
The best! Love the vintage design, sturdy metal frame and high quality loops. A great gift for kids and adults alike. Over the last few years we have gifted these to each of our children, and now they use them to make gifts for hosts when we are invited to dinners, parties and the like. The gift that keeps on giving. The color varieties and palettes selected for each groupings (pastel, bold, earth tones, etc.) are perfectly curated.Heirloom quality loom, I expect to see these cherished and put to good use for many years to come.Considering saving a few bucks and buying the plastic loom instead? In this instance especially, we encourage you to choose quality over quantity.Having tried the plastic looms and nylon loops with gusto I can tell you they fell quite flat. They fray while weaving, the plastic hooks are difficult to work with and catch on the material, and in the end the pot holders (and many other things you can create with these wonders, hello YouTube tutorials) Come out much smaller once removed from the loom, don’t quite hold their shape and are flimsy, more of a novelty than much else. With this brand you end up getting more bang for your buck, a better product in trade for your time and the tools are designed for use, not just as a (simple and frustrating) toy (like those plastic sets). The metal loom, metal hook and cotton loops guarantee a friendlier user experience and high quality end product.*I am not affiliated with amazon or the brand of this loom in any way (all though, holler if you are looking 😉). I am just a mom who has spent years crafting. Years of trial and error, a waste not want not type, who has had to measure the worth of some lack luster products against the time it would take to get “good use” of them.We look forward to trying their larger looms, and maybe someday even purchasing their beautifully colored loops in bulk.

ONLY MAKES 5
This product is advertised as making 6 potholders but only makes 5. I just made 5 complete potholders at quarantine gifts. Each complete potholder requires 36 (18x18) loops. I was left with 31 loops. The teeth on the loom could be a little longer too, since the potholder easily pops off when doing the finishing edges. I know people use rubber bands and other things but cmon... just make the teeth a little longer in the first place to hold the loops on until you’re ready to take them off.Would NOT recommend since you can only make 5 computer potholders and end up with a handful of random loops instead.

Really sturdy product.
I bought this for my six year old granddaughter. She loves crafts. I was afraid that it might be too difficult for her, but she got the idea quickly. She did need help when she got closer to the end of the potholder. Also, taking the potholder off the loom isn't easy. You can do it with the hook provided, but if you pick up a crochet hook (size 3.5mm or larger) it goes faster. At six, taking the potholder off the loom is best left to an adult helper. Older kids shouldn't have a problem. The loom is really sturdy. The loops can have a tendency to unravel, but their bright colors make up for that imperfection. You can easily snip off loose threads with a pair of scissors. They make great gifts and are sturdy. I am considering buying the 10 inch version for myself.

Sturdy Metal Loom, useful hook and Crochet Hook for Finishing Edges, Quality Vibrant Cotton Loops
So glad I sprung for the metal loom with COTTON loops!(Almost bought a cheap plastic kit with synthetic loops several times over the past year).Produced great quality potholders with vibrant colors, very neat sturdy with even weaving despite not having down this for like 30 years and having some minor dexterity issues.by nature I’m a loom knitter, and this is even simpler technique wise. harrisville designs has a tool online for designing pot holders using different weaving techniques (haven’t tapped into that quite yet) and the variety of patterns and color ways using that is pretty impressive for such and easy to utilize loom!cotton loops are appropriate sized and great quality. Also seem very colorfast despite being vibrant! Glad I made this purchase (also managed to get 7 potholders out of the kit -and I believe it’s meant to make 6- so that was a bonus)

You will not be disappointed!
So glad I ordered this! I've had a plastic loom that was pretty okay, but the loops would always slip off since the posts were a little shallow. This one works like a dream, and the loops are beautiful bright colors and all 36 I used last night fit beautifully. I love making these things, and they are my favorite potholders in my kitchen: perfect size, easily grippable, and cute. Very happy!

Harrisville Designs Deluxe Potholder Loom
Although I still have and use the potholder loom that I bought almost sixty-five years ago [a dollar out of my allowance], I decided to try this one--in part because I'd so admired the colors of the loops pictured in the ads on various web sites. It is, in at least one important way, an improvement over my old loom: the shape of the pegs that hold the loops is much improved--not nearly as difficult to keep the loops on the loom as with my old one. On the other hand, I wish the "empty" corners were as "roomy" as the ones on my old loom because getting that rod through to weave the last couple of loops can be a challenge, particularly for children. The loops provided--enough for six potholders with the Deluxe model-- as some people have noted, can be shaggy. Potholder loops have always had a tendency to be shaggy, but it doesn't matter for the final result. The important thing is that the loops fit--no need to discard any of them. And the colors really are lovely. [In case anybody wonders, the loops that fit my old loom also fit this one.]I wouldn't hesitate to buy this loom as a gift for child or adult. Children can enjoy the fun and the opportunity to make good gifts for grownups. Adults never have to face the possibility of being without really good potholders. [If you don't buy the "Deluxe" loom with its ample supply of loops, I suggest that you buy the large bag of loops to go with the plain loom. Once somebody starts weaving, that person will not be satisfied with material for only two potholders. Furthermore, the more loops, the more design possibilities.

Introduce children to the fiber arts
This is a gift so I have not used it obviously, however, it does look perfect for a child to begin his/her first weaving of potholders for mom and grand mom. I chose this because the frame should stand up to "child" use. I really am looking forward to receiving a potholder from my grandson. Originally purchased for my granddaughter but decided to give to grandson after conversation with mom. Granddaughter may get her own in the future.

Fun with 6-year-old (almost 7-year-old) grandson; he could do on his own after 2 times with Granny's help
Beautiful bright loops made of cotton make for really nice potholders. Be sure to check out their website for design ideas. My grandson, who is, of course, a genius, was able to make a finished potholder on his own after two times with supervision. I practiced doing it myself first so I could teach him (plus I wanted a couple potholders). I think it would be hard for a child that age to learn without hands-on instruction. I bought a big bag of extra loops. For some reason there's a great variance in the price of the loops.

Fun and Nostalgic!
In my 1950s childhood just about every kitchen I went in had several of these potholders. The kids would crank them out, then sell them door to door for 50 cents. The thing is, this set makes very USEFUL potholders! Not too large, flexible, thick enough to protect, and easily washed. The loops are all cotton, the frame is marked Made in America, and the instructions are clear and simple. This is a great intro craft for kids, and a fast workup for adults. Thirty minutes and you have a potholder. It says there are enough loops for 6 potholders, but I got 7 out of the bag with exactly 1 loop left over. The last one was a little weird in color pattern, but still works.

Not just for kids!
Yep. I decided to do arts and crafts during this strange time in America and the deluxe version is very nice. I've never weaved. I followed the pictures on the box. The only problem I had was taking it off the rack. The instructions were ok but since I had no history with a crochet hook, it took a couple of tries before I got it right. I can make 6 with the amount of ribbons they give. Now that I've made 1 I'll give the box to a neighbor who has a child. I just wanted to try it. It was fun.

Great then, great now
This takes me back to my childhood. My beloved grandmother had one of these at her house. So I learned how to do a simple weave. I still have one or two that I made way back then. This is going to be a present for my great granddaughters. It let's them work with their fingers, design potholders with their selected special colors. And it keeps them occupied. I may have to help with binding off. But it won't be long before they can do it for themselves.
