Great Kit, Good Value, Lots of Playability
Absolutely loved by a 10 year old. The technic kit is challenging enough to stretch a regular Lego kid while being achievable too.The pull back and go action is outstanding and really makes this car fly.The car is robust and takes a beating- it doesnt require gentle handing so it stands up to rough car chase. crash type playThe price is great, the kit is great, if you have a Lego kid, this will certainly be one for them to enjoy.I'm not wholly certain that 7 is an age at which the child could complete it without assistance but it seemed more that an 8/9 year old would be at the younger end for not requiring adult assistance. I didnt check it on a 7 year old so I could well be wrong.

Great car (but difficult directions)
This was the second Technic Lego we got for our 5-year-old grandson. The first one had a learning curve from which I think this one benefited. The directions are not as good and helpful as other Lego projects we have done. I was tempted to reduce the rating by one star because of that, but once assembled, the car works beautifully, and we had a lot of fun racing it. Four-and-a-half stars just because of the directions. Our grandson has requested more pull back Legos. One thing I thought I would note - in the reviews a couple of people noted their car did not pull back and go. You need to attach the rear axle through the orange part, which we did not do first try with the first car. Once we figured that out, it worked great.

Lots of Fun, Goes Fast, Pull Back Motor
I purchased the Lego Technic Police Interceptor 42047 as a Christmas gift for my 8 year old nephew and he was thrilled! He is very smart, started building with Lego Kits at age 3. He built this kit in about an hour or so, without any help, and we took turns pulling it back and racing it across the floor. Lots of fun, it goes pretty fast! Purchased the kit model 42046 Technic Getaway Racer also, which aside from being a cool vehicle, can also be used together with the 42047 to build a much bigger, way cooler vehicle. After he built and played with the Interceptor and the Racer, he took both cars apart and built the "Extreme Police Racer" a six-wheeled awesome looking vehicle resembling a dragster. It uses both of the pull back power mechanisms, making it go a little faster. I'm very happy with both purchases and recommend buying both sets... my nephew worded it best... "Its like getting 3 kits!"

My 7-yr old likes it, a bit hard for him to build
My 7-yr old son likes it although it was a liitle hard for him to build it because it has many small pieces and instructions were not that clear for his age. Once it's built, he enjoys the final product. I'm planning to buy a second set that you can use together with this to build some other cars.

Great Lego set!
I tried Lego Technic for the first time a few weeks ago at a science museum, and liked it so much I bought a set for myself. This is the first Technic model I've built. It took much longer to build than any other Lego set I've done in the same price range, and required much more focus and care. In this price range, I can usually assemble models from other Lego series within 15-20 minutes, and barely use the instructions at all. This one took nearly 2 hours, and I had to look at the instructions for every single step! The finished car is very nice, and the pull-back mechanism works wonderfully.

Durable & fun
Wow, Legos have come a LONG way since I was a kid, building model pyramids for Pharaoh way back in the day. This is a great little project for any 7+ kid who likes putting things together. The vehicle itself is VERY durable compared to most Lego stuff. Great product!

Easy to build, easy to modify, fun to play with
My son loves this, and I enjoyed building it with him. I've been a Lego fan since I was a kid and now that I have one of my own it's a fun path down the road of nostalgia to watch and help him be the master builder.I helped him with the main frame of this for about ten minutes and he finished off the rest himself. Played with it for a while then began deconstruction to make something new and exciting out of it. I definitely recommend this product.

Stalled
Remote control toys are a big deal to the tween age set - they want motorized kits like cars, boats and more. LEGO sells lots of themed sets like Chima, Ninjago, Creator, and City, but they risk losing their loyal - but bored - audience without upgrading their designs to include more interactivity. When drones are more affordable than the LEGO train and Creator 16+ kits, the brand is in trouble. The LEGO Technic Pull-Back building kits, which are more mechanical than motorized movement, are a step in the right direction, but it's just not enough. First off, it's really more for the 6-10, not 7-14 age group. Boosting the age range strikes me as LEGO's attempt to artificially expand their market. Don't fall for it. This kit was mildly interesting to my sons, ages 10 and 12, who built the 185-piece kit in less than an hour. For your 6-10 year old LEGO enthusiast, this is a step-up building experience that provides the added thrill of movement and speed. Can't recommend it for the 11+ builder.

A staple in my kids' playroom.
.My boys, four and seven years old, were happy over the moon to get their hands on this set. Honestly, any Lego set makes them jump. The biggest surprise was that four years old was able to make it on his own.Quite a milestone, I would say, when you realize that your little boy doesn't need your help in Lego!Lego makes superb buildings sets that show exceptional quality and perfection in every single detail, and there is nothing on the market that comes close to that level. And special kudos to the detailed instructions, that so easy to understand and follow, that four-year-old kid could make it without adult's help. Not to mention that Lego is a perfect tool to bring out creativity, imagination, dexterity and enormously helps to build fine motor skills.

Bought for my 11 year old son for Christmas. He prefers the technic lego over typical lego building sets, so this was a hit!
