HENCKELSInternational Fine Edge Pro 9" Sharpening Steel

I have a Henckles sharpening steel that I got 28 years ago that is starting to wear down so I thought it was time to get a new one. I received the new steel yesterday and promptly sharpened all of the knives in my house. A few strokes on each side is all it takes to keep my knives razor sharp. Having your knives sharp is much safer than a dull knife. The handle is a little smaller than my last steel, but it works just the same. For the price, you can't beat this sharpening steel.

I was a professional cook for years and I had access to the local knife sharpening company that came to service our knives.I have some beautiful knives at home and seemed inconvenient to find someone new to sharpen them . I decided to give this little steel a try . Amazing ! It put the edge back on every knife without a grinder .

The media could not be loaded. It's an irreplaceable tool in any kitchen. It's well made. I enjoy its size, as it fits great on any drawer but is easy to use on any size of knife.The design and grip of the handle are good.It helps to keep the edge of the knife sharp. I use it every time I use a knife. It's fast to use, fill slides, and you're good to go.

I was expecting a better quality from Henckles than from no-name brands and I got it! Now the trick is learning to properly steel/hone the “off side” of the knife.I was able to immediately get one side razor sharp - and I mean RAZOR— but apparently I can’t get the angle correct on both sides. Despite YT videos with great instructions it takes practice. I blame myself not this honing steel. It showed me that my knives are already sharp and merely need the edges realigned — as I suspected.At $15 for this 9” honing steel I feel it’s a great price for this brand name. It looks legit and comes in a proper clamshell package with labeling you’d see at a local store…..not a brown box.

Even professional knives need sharpening. This makes the job much easier and takes the guess work out of how much I should sharpen. Great product. Helps to prevent knicks and uneven sharpening seems to be avoided by using this.

I have been expanding my set of HENCKELS "Statement" knives over time, buying them opportunistically one by one, and after a while I got this Henckels knife sharpener.No frills, sturdy, comfortable in your hand, it will not disappoint. The trick to using a knife sharpener is to hit the sweet spot and not overdo it, otherwise you have to start all over again.Also, I started sharpening my knives **every single time** before using them, no matter what. It makes an amazing difference. And it makes the sharpening quick and easy too.

Recently, a friend explained to me why sharpening knives seems to get harder and harder to do. Honing rods take off the burrs created by sharpening, and straightens the knife's microscopic uneveness. Boy, does it work well! Bought the Henckels, even though it was made in China because I figured they at least oversaw the manufacturing quality, the price was really good, and the 9" length fit best in the drawer. Very happy I did.

A friend has a bunch of dull knives, so I bought this for her. It's terribly unsafe to cut with a dull knife.This is a good size for her. It's not a huge "sword" like my other sharpening steels, intimidating, so I think this will work well for her. It is made by Henckels, so its good steel, and the tough plastic handle will go in her dishwasher as needed.This is a good purchase, especially for the price.
