VAMPIRES, DEMONS, AND SEX....YEAH!!
This first full novel spin off from the Night Huntress Series is not to be missed! As with Cat and Bones stories, this tale of Denise and Spade has plenty of steamy love scenes, dangerous villains to defeat, and moments of humor amidst all the drama and sorrow. Ms. Frost has created one of my favorite series with the Night Huntress. FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON grabbed my attention from the beginning as all of her books in the series do. Found it to be a quick read, not because it’s a short novel, but because it’s just so intense I didn’t want to put it down.An unbelievable world of vampires, ghouls, and demons becomes real to me as I burrow into the story. The dialogue is a huge factor in making the book believable. There is such a natural flow to how the characters converse with each other. Clever one liners pop up in the most unexpected and serious spots. If you’ve not been following the series but you want to start, you might want to skip the rest of this review. I’m not going to deliberately try and put in spoilers but it’s hard not to when this story is about Cat’s best friend, Denise and one of Bone’s best friends, Charles (or Spade, his vampire name).Denise has made a decision to never become involved with the undead world again after becoming entangled in a vampire war that causes the death of her husband, Randy. This means she has cut off all contact with Cat. Turns out though the undead world isn’t finished with her. Her vow to avoid anything not human is shattered when a demon by the name of Raum explodes into her life and nothing will ever be the same afterwards. Needing Cat’s help but not knowing how to reach her, after a year of no contact, she calls the only person that she still has a working number for, Spade. This is not something Spade is wanting to get tangled in because he has his own vow to never become involved with a human, again, (leaving that little mystery as to why for you to discover). Spade can’t ignore Denise’s plea for help, course turns out Denise is darn hard to ignore also. It’s a race to find an ancient relative of Denise’s to save her from the demon’s essence that courses through her body. And a fight to combat the growing desire between the two of them. Sooo, much fun to read!I cannot stress to you enough how wonderful the Night Huntress Series is and all of the spin offs that accompany it! HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone 18 and older!

Awesome Paranormal...
For some reason, I have avoided this author. When I would see her books at the store I would always pass them by. Why?! Believe me, I'm asking myself the same question. I guess I tend to avoid cliffhangers and series that involve one person or couple. It's just more of a commitment than I want to make. I mean, you get all attached to people, the author does something you don't like or goes in a direction you'd rather not go and you're dragged right along with them because it's not like you can suddenly bail on a character/s you've been reading about for three or four books. You have to know how it all ends! Also, it's pretty hard to keep up the emotional intensity over the span of a series and I'm like a junkie looking for a fix when it comes to reading about people falling in love - it's hard to make every book seem like the first time when you're always writing about the same damn people. But I digress.I downloaded First Drop of Crimson for an overnight from LAX to Sydney because I liked the cover and I was in the mood for a good vamp romance. I read the reviews saying to start with the Cat and Bones series, but I didn't and I don't think it hindered my enjoyment of the book. Frost doesn't offer a lot of backstory, but it's not brain surgery figuring out a vampire world building situation. They like blood, are more than often dead sexy (hmmm...sorry for the awful pun), and have special skills and strengths. So, I was able to follow along just fine (though I will be going back to the beginning with Cat).I would give this book 4.5 stars because it has a great mix of plot, entertaining dialogue and hot men. The writing is excellent, but perhaps not on the level of other authors of the genre. By that I mean, while I *really* enjoyed the book, it didn't wring every last emotional twinge out of me in the way some other books have (Kresley Cole's series, some J.R. Ward books, etc.) Don't get me wrong, it's excellent in a variety of ways, but maybe not the one book I'd save from a burning building.I will be reading this author's backlist...but I am especially looking forward to her next contribution to *this* series. A visit to her website says Mencheres? Not sure who that is (beyond his small role in this book), but if First Drop of Crimson is any indication, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

I'm in love with this series
This book is a spin off of the Night Huntress series and should be read in between book 4 and book 5. It can also be read as a standalone, but trust me, you'd be missing out if you don't read the whole series because it's fantastic! As the rest of the books, I really enjoyed this one as well. Jeaniene is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors ❤️

Bellissimo!
Molto molto bello, veramente consigliato!

One of my favorites by Frost
I reread this story fairly often, really enjoying her one book stories as well as her series. I liked seeing the helpless sidekick friend become formidable.

Conquise !!
