1/4" Grommet Eyelet Setting Pliers with 100 Silver Grommets

These pliers are awful. Firstly, the grommets that come with it are eyelets only... no washers. That's my bad for not noticing/being a noob, but it still makes NO sense. What would you use these on that you wouldn't need the washers? But I digress. Secondly, something is wrong with the pliers because they only crimp one half of the eyelet. I wish I hadn't waited 3 months to take these out of the package and try them, I would have sent them back for a refund in a heartbeat. In short, DON'T BUY THESE. They aren't so much of a good deal that the shoddiness is excusable. Just pay an extra $10 and get good pliers, eyelets, AND washers.

No friends, these are seriously bad. I was in a pinch and needed to finish a project but lost my pliers. I purchased these ones and prayed for the best. I must have been extra bad as when i took my package to my sewing room to finish a garment and open my package I found the pliers had been partially opened. I am desperate and everything seemed to be there so I didn't worry about it. I find no instructions but that is fine as I have used such equipment before. I begin my first eyelet and mega fail. I then take a scrap material and try a few more techniques. None work. I find that only one side of the eyelet bends back while the other is straight out still. The pliers just don't work and I can't use this for a garment as it will scratch people. Waste of money. Waste of time.

This set of pliers was not the size I needed for the 1/4 gommets I had. There seems to be a difference between some grommets where one size is 1/4" inner diameter, and another is 1/4" outer diameter. These pliers are for grommets with a 1/4" inner diameter hole, thus requiring a larger hole to insert them through, and also having a larger flange.The size I needed was for the 1/4" outer diameter hole, which means a smaller flange. Using these pliers on the smaller flange caused crushing and uneven spread.That is NOT why I gave them 2 stars, however.These would be considered "light duty" at best. After two crimps of the grommets that came with the pliers (the ones intended for use by them) the handles bent and came together in my grip. The steel used for the anvil and setter is strong and durable. However, whatever metal is used for the rest of the tool is soft and malleable. It will not hold up to constant use.That is why I gave it 2 stars.

Do not buy this. Totally useless. First the eyelets are one-sided. What? You heard me, the eyelets are one-sided which means the back sign of the eyelid is frayed and split with shards of metal sharp enough to cut your finger on. this makes the eyelids completely inappropriate for any type of project involving cloth. I actually punched it through a soft piece of plastic and that sucked as well. It was attached firmly but again the backside was like sharp pieces of scrap metal. Then to make it even worse the pliers do not completely clamp down all the way. In the few samples that I could tolerate I was trying to figure out how to hammer down the frayed edges.. then I thought this is ridiculous why should I have to work so hard to overcome a defective product. I would give it zero stars if I could but the rating system requires at least one start. Cheap cheap cheap buy something that actually has some substance to it.

I saw several pics where people had ruined grommets. I thought it was because they were putting the grommet on the clamp upside down. The first one I tried I had put it in wrong, when I reversed it like in the pic, it worked perfectly by itself. When I tried it on some thin canvas it put a partial hole it in and the grommet bent all wrong and ruined the fabric. I do believe it would work on t-shirt.

The tool works okay. You need a good amount of hand strength to set them, but it's easy to use. Unfortunately all of the grommets are half-sides, so they are useless. Usually, grommets come in sets, which is what I thought this was - with a long side, and a narrow side that catches it when the grommet is set. This is ALL only half of a set - so 100 useless grommets. Happy for the tool, sad for the 100 useless grommets. A mistake in packaging at best, bad advertising at worse. Oh and the original packaging was taped together because it had been previously opened.

I bought a pair of chaps that were too big and I bought this to put more grommets in so I could tighten it up. The only disadvantage was doing the middle spot. It was hard to reach and I had a full leather over. And it did not do a great job putting the middle grommet in. I'm going to try again today cuz I need to put maybe one or two more rows in as the waist size was way too big but I did get it a good price. So this grommet maker is very handy and I will probably use it for other leather projects as well.

Not sure if the bad reviews are from people who just aren't experienced with hand tools, but I had no problems with this eyelet/grommet pliers or with the grommets themselves. The grommets can be used one per hole, or they can be doubled up with the fabric sandwiched between them if you squish one grommet on first and then add another to it. They look great and work just fine. The tool is also decent quality. Great little set for only $11!

Only received the male grommets.Between that, and the fact that the pliers will not crush/set any of the other grommets I have on hand, the set is totally useless.
