I use it before I use the knife. I can slice tomatoes easily with a sharp knife. So it sharpens easily. Did you know you can cut yourself easier with a dull knife. So there is no reason to not keep your knives sharp. It is small and doesn’t take up counter space. When you hold it your fingers are not in the way.

Very efficient and easy to use. Leaves a SHARP blade!! Have not tried it on a serrated knife yet but I believe it says you can. I will look into it before I try.

Doesn't work well on ceramic knives.

I could not be more happy with this little knife sharpener. It sharpens very nicely and the unit can be used by both left and right handed people. An excellent purchase for the price!
