Some products are way over complicated and flashlights are no exception. One of the great things about maglite is that they have kept a fairly easy to use design for years. Look the truth is if you want a good flash light that will last for years and is highly dependable buy a maglite, I guarantee they have one to fit your needs. And as far as the price they have one for every budget. Even the higher end maglite are still not that bad on price. Just a side note I still have the malite that used to be my grandpa's and it still works. Of course like anything else if you don't care for it properly it will not last.

Upgraded it to break glass, keep it in the truck for emergencies.

This mag lite is really nice, feels like high quality and has a nice output. Size is large for the amount of lumens if you compare to lights like Stream light and Fenix, but this is a Maglite and you already know this. The price can be a little high depending on who you get them from, overall a very nice flashlight.

Over my lifetime I've owned a lot of flashlights, and I can say that MagLite is still the king. This one fits right in the sweet spot for me in size, weight and amount of light it puts out. You can buy flashlights with insane output, they work well, they'll get hot and that's just want it is. People who are snobby about this know what I mean, but if you just want something that is durable, not too heavy and puts out more than enough light (which is entirely up to you), this is the light for you. The only change I made was to purchase a glass lens to replace the plastic one fitted to the light originally. It's a lot more clear and scratch-resistant. Amazon sells a selection of these from regular vendors. As to this grip, I've owned MagLite flashlights with the original grip style and this new one, and I like this a lot, but don't prefer one over the other. It's strictly personal taste. I would say that you can definitely buy this with the confidence that with basic care, you'll have it forever.

Color and size were as described. It is a 2 cell, not a three cell as the description states. Not as bright as I hoped, but it is heavy duty as you would expect from MagLite.

The flashlight is very well made very durable. I especially like the metal construction. I bought three two D cell with LED lights and one three D cell light. The three cell can be used as a night stick. Although relatively expensive, the flashlights are worth the price.
