I purchased this OKG Powder because I read it was good for people with hypothyroid disease. I'm unsure if it is making a big difference as I take quite a few supplements. I mix it in water and take it before I go to bed. Practically flavorless, which is good. Seems to be good quality. It may be helping with sleep, but, again, I take a few other supplements, so it's hard to tell. I will repurchase.

Ornithine is one of my essential sleep supplements. I don't want to be without it. I always recommend that people start with a small package of any powdered supplement the first time you order to make sure you can handle the taste, etc. Some supplements are just gnarly and there's no way around it. This is one that's a little gnarly - but it's not too bad. I am used to taking ornithine HCL and some other aminos that are very mild or even sweet. I put 1/2 to 1 tsp of ornithine HCL under my tongue in the evening and let it absorb. I cannot do that with this. It's super sour. I have to mix it with a little water and chug it. Because of that, I never end up taking this and always go back to ornithine HCL. But, this is good stuff. Just be prepared or go with the HCL, unless there are specific tissue repair or muscle building benefits you're looking for with this.

Update Sept 4, 2021:Giving them another chance I ordered 100mg. This batch smells normal. So it seems the problem is solved. When I am through this one I will order the KG size again and report back. So I have upped the review to 4 stars and will put it to 5 after I order the 1KG and it smells normal.Bulk supplements has always been good quality. And to be fair, OKG I bought from purebulk when bulk supplements was out of stock, also smells of nail polish. I suspect they use the same source and this has just slipped by. The smell on opening the package is unmistakable, but the taste of the product does not seem too far off. However, the smell seems to indicate something toxic in there. I have smelled this before (as I mentioned in the pure bulk review) years ago with Ribose and then I heard several people had gotten ill from it. So please identify this contaminant and test for it in the future. We all love the bulk availability of these aminos, but no one wants to get sick from using a health related product! After reading around and finding a few studies showing that ornithine HCL could help increase sleep quality (likely by lowering cortisol levels) I bit the bullet and decided to trial it. I chose this product because it was priced well, the brand has great reviews, and the keto-glutarate salt likely improves the effects and bioavailabilty of ornithine. The dose used in the studies was 500mg of ornithine HCl, which equals about 400mg of ornithine. For the OKG salt, you need about 800mg since the keto-glutarate makes up about half of the weight.After using it at 800mg 30-60 minutes before sleep I can say my sleep has been deeper. I judge this by how often I wake up to switch positions which seems to have lessened. I wake up feeling about the same as before, but I don't feel the need to jump back in bed. I'll continue using this to see if the effects build up over time or if they are acute.

I haven't use this product long enough to know if it will accomplish what I purchased it for but reviewing the product for what it is I have to give it 5 stars. It appears to be a high quality supplement. It's very reasonably priced. It mixes very well in water and does not have a bad taste. I'm definitely going to order more when I run out. The bulk power form make it very easy for me to create my own supplement mix which dissolves easily in water. It beats taking a bunch of pills that have a lot of unnecessary other things mixed in.

I use this with a combo of NAC and lysine mixed in water, it tastes a little sour but I love the taste. I have the mthfr gene, which makes your body difficult to detox , and this helps me so much ! I also think that it helps with muscle tone, before I started using this I worked out every other day and could see no muscle tone so I do see a difference. I think it’s a very clean supplement otherwise my body would react to it, I would not be without it .
