So fat so good
First thing is, this is very cute on the counter. Odd statement, but I don’t like a ton on the counter Because I don’t have much room, so if it’s functional and looks good, mores the better. It’s easy to clean, easy to pack, so I have my first batch of sauerkraut in progress. If it doesn’t turn out it will operator error, not the crock The cookbook is nice, everything explained well. .

good looking but not useful
It's a very good looking container and i was rather excited to use it. I made a batch of sauerkraut and it was too much for 1 container so i split it to put half of it to my old glass container that doesn't look this nice. So the result is in regular container sauerkraut stayed nice and crunchy for a long time, in Mortier Pilon it became mushy very soon, don't understand the reason for it but very disappointing. Not sure what to use it for.

Cover is too difficult to remove. Poor value.
Perhaps I received a defect, but the white plastic cover is way too difficult to unscrew after it has been sealed shut for weeks. First fermentation went ok, second resulted in spilling the "moat" water into my ginger bug trying to remove the cover. It does a stick/slip thing that combined with no grip on the cover makes it tough to keep the full container steady. It is a poor design ergonomically. There is no good way to hold the jar with one hand, the cover with the other hand, and apply a torque to unscrew. If I try to use again I will get an extra pair of hands to hold the jar down.Small recipe book has some very off quantities, example; 4 kilos of green cabbage shredded (about 4 heads). Books seem to be more about appearance than content, my preference is the reverse. For the cost, I would not buy this again, there are plenty of simple options for jars.

Great for a beginner fermenter!
I make several recipes that use shredded cabbage - but only just a little bit, and 3/4 of each head I buy is usually wasted every single time. I stumbled upon this little kit after I researched things to do with leftover cabbage, and discovered how easy making sauerkraut is.Right out of the box, the packaging was delightful and fun. There were actually two recipe books included... one looked like it may have been an earlier copy, but there was also a very nicely bound recipe book. This size jar is also absolutely perfect for 3/4 to 1 whole head of cabbage, which came out to close to 2 lbs.So far I'm a week into a batch of sauerkraut, and it seems like it's going well! The jar was easy to clean, and the directions on how to get started are simple. After the kraut is finished, I'll be anxious to try something else - like the kimchi!

I love it and it is easy and safe to Ferment.
I love this fermentation Crock. It is easy to use and the ingredients, spices, brine, herbs and whey are what most people use when canning and preserving foods anyway. Even if you don't do canning vinegar and salt{s} most people have in there cupboards. I felt relieved when I read the book Fermentation for beginners and using the recipes. My favorites are pickled eggs, pickled beets, dill garlic pickles, sauerkraut and pickled cauliflower with Pearl onions. This crock is awesome and takes the new technology to Fermentation to a safer, convenient level and saves time. In fact, I am going to order four more so I always have an extra on hand. Thank you Mortier Pilon for a wonderful product. I give you 5 stars all across the board

Functional and stylish
I have been using the 2L crock for nearly a year and recently purchased a 2nd as a gift for a friend. I've had good results with several types of kimchi, pickles and sauerkraut but I feel like my successful ferments have been due to continued reading and research into fermentation basics, NOT from the included recipe book(s). The books are very slick and feature contemporary photos and it's all very "feel good" but the recipes themselves are in several cases, simply useless and clearly not written for a 2L crock. I give the crock 5 stars but the recipe book(s) a zero. Also it would have been nice to include some suggestions on where to find some of the more unusual ingredients that the recipes call for. Just a thought. Fermentation is a very cool journey and overall I'm a Mortier Pilon fan and repeat customer!

need more input
I'm very impressed with the design of this fermentation jar. It looks classy on my counter. I would really like more data about how to use it. I went to the website and watched a video but it wasn't very informative except about the benefits of eating fermented foods. I knew that. I need to know if I'm putting it together right and so on.
