Don’t be fooled. THIS IS NOT A LAPTOP.
I needed to replace my beloved Asus Zenbook that I use as a personal PC. Also wanted something more portable than the clunky Dell laptop I use for work. Needed enough capacity to run quickbooks desktop and sync a huge dropbox account as well as a few other business applications. Thought this would do double duty for work and personal, but it just doesn’t cut it. It’s nothing more than a big tablet.. I had to buy the keyboard cover and numeric keypad. It doesn’t have a USB-A port, so it won’t run my USB mouse. So that’s another accessory I had to buy. Also ordered the multi-port adapter just in case I need to connect some other devices one of these days. I was so excited to get this and I really wanted to love it. I was disappointed right out of the box. During setup I noticed the touchscreen doesn’t always pull up the touch keyboard. It was also showing those little ghost touch circles right out of the box. Maybe I got a defective unit, so that annoyed me right away. Next, I realized the tablet is heavy and the keyboard is relatively flimsy, so it just doesn’t feel properly balanced. With or without the keyboard attached it won’t stand up without the kickstand, so it’s very awkward to use on your lap. That was a deal breaker for me. Less important, but still annoying is the how the matte black shows every single fingerprint and smudges don’t clean off easily. I didn’t play with it long enough to say if there was anything else I didn’t like. I just hit the reset button and arranged to send it back. Then went to BestBuy and ordered a brand new Zenbook Flip 15” with 16GB memory and 1TB SSD. It’s a much better value for just couple hundred more than the Surface plus all of the accessories I needed to buy to make it work for me.

It doesn't run many applications!
This computer is horrible. The response from Microsoft to my issues is even more horrible. I bought it for the LTE features after owning a Surface Pro 7 thinking. they would otherwise function the same. Adobe Acrobat DC was glitchy from the beginning. I was having too many issues so decided to factory reset the computer. Then Acrobat would not even try to install. I called Adobe and was told that many of their products will not operate on a Surface Pro X and they had no intention of making them work in the future. Turns out there are a lot of software products that will not run on this computer. I think it is reasonable to expect that anything an earlier version (Surface Pro 7) can do could be done on a later version. After talking to Microsoft Customer Service I'm getting the hand. I explained that it's basically useless to me and just wanted a credit. They claim that since they put a disclaimer on their website that it may not run all applications that they don't have to do anything. I only wanted MS credit for a return so I could just buy another Surface Pro 7.
