Great performance and value!
Finally! An honest tactical remedy which supplies it's operator with a huge advantage! This is the second Viridian laser/LED sighting device I've bought. My C5L rests on a Ruger sR40 compact. Each unit works exactly as the mfg. describes. Each possess a very secure fit to the accessory rail. Ambidextrous accessibility. Simple reliable and steady performance. The X series is designed for larger handguns and this one resides on an FN FNP 45T rather than an Trigicon RMR this particular pistol is designed to accommodate. The Trijicon RMR costs nearly twice as much though and adds to the overall bulk and height of the sidearm. The X5L green laser is very visible at distances of 100 ft or so, at night, and around 40 ft. or so during the day, and this is coming from someone who has exceptionally poor eyesight. Close in, or in the home, you'll have no issues identifying or targeting possible threats. The X5L is quite versatile and easily configurable. Twin controls afford ambidexterous handling. It has six modes. It's various functions enable laser and LED to operate simultaneously or separately. Most Pulse or strobe frequencies and LED intensities are adjustable. It even shuts down after a short period automatically (10 min?) to prevent complete drainage of the cell if inadvertently energized when you set it down, or put it into a case or nightstand drawer. Apart from the longer run times of the X series, it's LED has a narrower yet slightly brighter bean than the C version's sights. Effectively this enables the operator to have a greater usable distance for identifying threats and dispatching or disregarding them, but not the wider spill of the C units which works great for up close social work.Viridian ECR Taclok holsters are now available for the more popular pistols, the eCR technology yields Instant on of the sight at which ever setting you choose to use as a default. This combination of handgun and laser readiness act as an integrated weapon system. Simultaneous & immediate functionality without a secondary motion required to activate the sight. Neither do you hafve to rely on how the grip is maintained. Merely draw the weapon from a Viridian ECR TACLOK holster, OR modify your own holster (see the DIY videos online showing how & where to install a small magnet in just the right orientation, and Viola! You're set! Functional, stable, dependable, highly visible green beam, it's added weight is near unnoticeable, simple to operate, not difficult to configure and well below the cost of other likewise tactical solutions.Sure the unit could have the same spring loaded rail attachment system Streamlight and Surefire use, and the X5L's LED could easily be made brighter as these other two competitors often build into their sights, but you don't have to remove the unit and risk losing zero to insert a new CR 123 as several other competitors require when using their sighting solutions.Zeroing the laser is simple & intuitive. Zeroing is faster with two people than doing it alone but either way will do. Using a laser bore sight is one other method to get close in faster. Remember too, closer in from zero, the shot will land roughly as much as an inch higher than the laser aiming point. Farther from zero, the opposite is true, and ballistics will add in their own factors for either case, so do practice... often. The Viridian X5L is definitely a practical and viable tactical solution which lives up to it's billing. Can be attached to long guns using the remote pressure switch which comes with the long gun model. The X5L is designed primarily for larger handguns. The biggest negative on the X model is perhaps it's width. Attached to double stack sidearms, or revolvers, it is not at all an issue. On very slim line semi auto pistols like 1911s, it will often be wider than the gun itself, though not by much.I've found no signs of unstable operation as some have alluded to in their posts here or elsewhere, nor have I found any fit or finish issues with mine. Everything right out of the box assembled perfectly and it has operated flawlessly. The single item for me is or was a need to adjust down the brightness of the LED when used simultaneously with the Green Laser to prevent some washing out of the green beam... results (eyes) will vary here I suppose. The OEM settings should do very well for the majority of users.Regardless the long gun or sidearm the X5L is affixed to, you have a definite advantage.NOTE although lights and lasers help out a lot, they are not the only consideration for a defensive solution. Range time remains just as important. and perhaps more so when adding anything to or in a weapon, even changing grips, sights, stances, breathing, and especially if you decide to shoot different ammo. It's a great device and will serve the operator well, but only with lots of practice.

The best laser sight I've seen yet.
EDIT(07/20/15): after at least two years of use (I believe), this thing is still going strong. Still holds zero, still works perfectly. It also helped get my wife to enjoy shooting when she was first starting. I really couldn't be more happy with this thing. The only complaint I have is that the two plastic mounts on either side of the light will throw the sighting off if you tighten or loosen them. That's not a real shock as it is actually moving the sight. It just wasn't something I thought about until I took this thing off to clean out any residue between it and the handgun frame. This is one of the best products i've purchased on amazon, it holds a zero through seemingly any number of rounds. It helps amateurs to hit a target and helps more experienced marksman to hit a target far more easily under stress. The light is blinding at night and the laser is easy to see in broad daylight. At night it goes further than you would ever need to shoot a handgun. This makes it easy to use for self and home defense. It is simple to use, only two buttons and ambidextrous operation on top of that. The modes of operation are fully customizable with different combinations of light and laser. If you want a strobing light and constant laser, or constant light with a strobing laser, just light, just laser, strobing or not, it can do all of that. Also, the strobe speeds are both customizable. If you set one speed, it will apply that to all of the modes where a strobe is employed. The buttons on the side also support momentary-on use. You have to hold them for a little longer than you might think for this to kick in, but it's there. The laser comes with everything needed to sight it in, and a battery. It also comes with a couple spare parts and even replacement allen wrenches for the windage and elevation. Overall, a GREAT product. I would certainly purchase it again.

Green Laser and tac light...because
I can't say I particularly needed this item but I'd heard good things about it and decided to try it.It is very simple to mount and zero using the included tools. The green laser is extremely bright even in bright sunlight, the flashlight is bright, the unit is programmable in many different ways, it is lightweight and it is sleek and small. Price wise it falls between the Surefire (more $) and the Streamlight (much less $) and the quality is on par with the price. The Streamlight feels cheap compared to this and the Surefire though. The unit appears very durable so far. I have tried this with an MP45P and a G20 shooting much heavier loads than are typically available and it has yet to lose zero. It's a great training aid and could be a significant advantage in some SD situations. Yes, you will get people staring at you if you go to a public range, or grumbling about it being a sign that you can't use iron sights. All of the above makes this not only a useful tool but a lot of *fun*.Recommended.

including the battery and tools for an easy installation and adjustments
This item and seller both get 5 stars! I received the item within a few days of ordering and I couldn't beat the price anywhere else. The laser comes with everything needed, including the battery and tools for an easy installation and adjustments. The spotlight is very bright at 160 lumens and the strobe will put anyone into an epileptic seizure at 190 lumens, both adjustable for brightness and also the strobe frequency is adjustable. The laser is beyond sweet! The green laser will light up a room, it is incredibly bright and is very visible during the day, it's amazing how bright it is. I was able to point it across my river, into the neighbors house and on his back wall, which is through two layers of glass and varying light sources, and the dot was still fairly small and very visible at that distance, and this is the handgun version! The green laser itself is also able to strobe, and any configuration you can think of can be programmed, including a laser and strobe at the same time. The buttons on the side are easy to push and are ambidextrous. This was well worth the money I paid!
