I was captivated by their story and the holiday theme was perfect for this time of year
This was my first story by this author and it won't be the last. It is readily apparent that the author has direct military experience. the characters were vivid and leapt off the page. I was captivated by their story and the holiday theme was perfect for this time of year. Well done!!

Navy Christmas
Commander Jonas Scott got through a tough deployment by thinking about his family home on Whidbey Island. The same home his deceased stepmother, Dottie, had promised him. His Navy homecoming turns sour when he discovers that Dottie left his house to a stranger named Serena Delgado….Serena, an Army widow with a young son, is fixing up her house. But as Christmas approaches and she gets to know Jonas, Dottie's plan becomes clear. It wasn't about fixing up the house, it was about fixing up Serena and Jonas!. I absolutely loved this book the characters were great! The setting was brilliant!I love how this all turn out.

beware
this story has a really unpleasant and manipulative male lead. he schemes and acts in a childish way throughout the story. this is the first and only Christmas book i have not enjoyed. it makes sense to leave a house to your only blood relative and not to a stepson who already has a house and who you also left a great deal of money. i did not find the story romantic because this guy who is obsessive in more than one way and will marry to get this rundown house after he bought all the surrounding land. he is obsessed with Serena's curves. she liked his looks but being a lawyer and mother should have been more savvy and aware of his motives.

not for me
Very disappointed. Didn't like it. Agree with reviewer Gwendol re Jonas a whiney manipulative person. Weird for a Christmas story. It dragged. Endlessly repetitive with Jonas's thoughts and machinations. I couldn't connect to any of the characters. In fact giving up at 53% after trying for days to get into book or at least finish it.
