It's a dog toy Jim, but not as we know it!
I have a Lurcher cross who has destroyed numerous toys in a matter of seconds in the past, but in Tuff toys I seem to have found something she enjoys playing with and is capable of withstanding her slobbery onslaught. I did buy this for her for Christmas, but she took it out of the box so we left her with it so we could see how it will get on when she has it in December. It is surprisingly firm for a soft toy and my dog initially had trouble picking it up to play with. However, she soon let loose and started the attack. It survived and remains intact, the tentacles have squeakers in them and they still squeak! The body of the alien also squeaks, and believe me when I say I cannot make it squeak with my big hands so the dog is really biting the toy to make it squeak. No toy is indestructible, and I suspect the people whose dogs have destroyed these toys may have been unsupervised during the destruction. As soon as my pooch start gnawing on the edges I clap my hands and say NO! and that helps with toy life. Also, this is not a puppy toy, puppies have sharp teeth and as such may puncture the fabric and damage the toy. For mature dogs, this is great. However, these toys are pricey and this is why I give it 4* and not 5*.**edit**Now 3 starsOn Christmas Day my over excited dog went berserk with this toy and when I took it off her I was shocked to see a seam had come undone! Not sure if the dog did it or if it was a weak bit of stitching. Genuinely shocked and disappointed by this, but I was able to sew it back together easily.

Superb
Owning a dog that sees soft cuddly toys as 'let's rip'em apart' this Tuffy toy is superb.I've delayed writing a review prefering instead to allow my dog his usual time to rip apart. Several weeks later the toy remains in tact and all the stuffing, which usually finds its way throughout our house, is still firmly in place. That alone aids me in giving it 5 stars. We have a friend who put us on to this brand and given that their dog is a huge Mastiff who also hasn't managed to break into the toy, gave us confidence enough that our dog was unlikely to be able to as well. And he hasn't.In summary, have a dog that likes to rip and spread the innards of toys? This toy should slow them down plenty though Tuffy actually make a toy that's even more resistant to tearing.Go Tuffy.

Would consider buying but beware not as tough as advertised, felt material splits at seems.
Edit: Several months down the line and finally in the bin. They did play with it but the stuffing comes out when it splits but we keep repairing it and it has finally gone in the bin now, squeakers lasted longer than thought. They do love it but supervised play only as they can split it within a short space of time. Not tough enough! and it did split within minutes of opening. Our bull mastiff loves it so does our Aylestone Bulldog but its not durable enough and smaller than expected for the price. They are not destructive dogs. This is felt material hence splitting easily at the seems. Over priced in my opinion. We have the largest tuffy dinosaur , which we got on sale as they retail over £50 and again splits at the seems, our dogs seem to know where the weak points are! it's in the cupboard awaiting surgery. Dogs do love them though. I might purchase another for xmas for them as they enjoy the squeakers in them.

Fantastic!
My terrier is known to destroy anything she comes into contact with.Once someone bought her an indestructible 'kong' which she had in tiny pieces within 20 minutes. She doesn't usually do a lot these days - most toys keep her interested for a day or two at a push. She has played with this toy for 5 days straight without getting bored. Each tentacle has a squeaker and one in the head. It isn't an annoying squeak either but my terrier LOVES this toy. She did manage to get into it after about 5 days which for her is amazing! She's usually gone through £10 worth of other toys in that time. Even though parts of the toy have been wrecked, most of it is still holding strong and she's still completely obsessed with it!It was worth every penny. Yes, if your dog can destroy anything like mine can, they will get into it eventually but after many hours/days of fun and determination!Great product - a will buy another in the future!

Tuffy truly is tough
I love the tuffy toys as they have such longevity. I have spaniels who go into auto-destruct mode when they see a soft toy and can strip a standard pet shop presentation in five minutes flat, which is a waste of money.Tuffy toys are different. Yes, the dog CAN get through them, but oh does it take them a lot of time. Once the dog has destuffed the toy in part, I simplyhadn them back the remains, which then go on to last MONTHS.One of the nicer things about them is their appearence, and the fact that they are so highly visible with the bright colours that the humans do not trip over them as they do with the carpet-coloured bones and chews......Highly reccomended for all dogs small and large. This particular toy is about 11cm across, the size of a jumbo tennis ball.
