This is not a good innovation
This is not a good innovation. I bought this not because I find boiling pasta to be a strain (no pun intended) but because the price was low in order to lure us to try it and at least it would save me a few minutes. I should have bought a single box at the store to try that out. This is far harder to cook than regular pasta b/c you cannot regulate how done your pasta gets. I've tried this several times with similar results each time. When the timer goes off, I test it and it's on the stiff side of al dente, so I leave it for another minute. [The first time I followed the recipe exactly; each time since I have tried adding a little more water and a little more time but in 3 tries, I haven't gotten it right yet. I should point out that I cook a lot and this is the first time pasta has stymied me.] If you leave it on for a moment too long, it begins to stick to the pan (exactly like potsickers) but no one wants pasta that has been seared on one side. Stirring it constantly from the time the water gets low will prevent this, but who wants to work that hard for pasta that isn't from scratch. I'm trying to use up what I bought but my 3 boys -- whose most reliable food is pasta -- are ready to boycott dinner. I'm now exploring pasta pancake recipes so I can at least claim I meant for it to come out that way.

Might as well put flames on the box
Could pasta get any faster than this?! Pronto! Pronto! I shout and gesture in an italian-american stereotype around my kitchen, as I watch this pasta cook in a pan. I didn't realize this wasn't just a regular box of penne, so I cooked a couple boxes the normal way. Then someone told me I was supposed to use this pan method, and I questioned whether or not there was anything different about the pasta or if they were just trying to sex-up my penne with this Pronto branding? Who cares, this seems like pasta Guy Fieri would approve it's so quick!

Good Quick Pasta Fix
I love pasta of all kinds (who doesn't?). While this isn't quite as good as the traditional boil and drain pasta, it fulfills my needs when I am in a hurry. I like to add pasta to my canned soup, beans, etc. Instead of having to cook the pasta beforehand, I simply add this to the soup with a little extra water and when the soup is hot, the pasta is ready.

This is a quick and easy way to do a pasta dinner with little clean up afterwards. For some reason, it is difficult to find in the supermarkets. One pan does it all. Glad I don't have to clean up a pot for the pasta, drainer, and pan for sauce. Plus it only takes 10 minutes.

Works exactly as promised --- but pay attention!!!
Really quite good! Cooks exactly as it says and I couldn't tell the difference. I only gave it 3 stars instead of 5 because it does take a little time to get used to cooking like this...very easy to overcook or undercook. If you are a great cook you can take 5 stars from this...but if you are like me...an ADHD cook --- you have to pay attention.

Put this dry pasta in a skillet. Add 3 cups cold water. Turn on burner and set your timer for about 11 minutes. Stir, and then stir some more. In 11 minutes the water is cooked out, the pasta is done, Add your sauce, heat a minute and eat it. No colander, rinsing, reheating, etc.

thank you, Barilla, I love you!
I am a pasta snob, and I love all the pronto pastas I have tried, including these...I have to cook them longer and add a little extra water as I am at high altitude, but they are still so convenient...I am a bit puny due to health issues and it's great not to have to drain a large pan of pasta water...

My Favorites
Barilla is my favorite brand of pasta and I have been a long time user. Penne is among the top choices when I prepare pasta so this purchase on "Today's Deals" was a welcome offer. This is a many moon supply and all I need is some more sauce.
