FastCap PSSP25 25 foot Pad Standard Story Pole Measuring Tape

Wonderful features but in my opinion this tape is a little to flimsy for a professional. Here are a few downers I experienced with it; it has a short break point that I don't care for with a 25 foot tape measure. The belt clip kept snagging on my tool pouch. The manufacturers choice of metal or thickness of metal or both is poor. I say this because of the short break point and how easily the tape kinked after less than a week of light use. Even with these issues I must say I liked being able to use the story pole and having a pencil sharper built in to it. truly an innovative design. Just needs better quality components.

If you're a cabinet or kitchen installer this is ideal because you can markoff cabinets and other items on the tape for reference. Probably not the first choice if you're a framer.

I like the design and love the ability to use a story pole but having never used one before its going to take some getting use to. The biggest drawback is not having the measurement lines on both sides of the tape. Maybe I should have just got the story pole with no measurements to eliminate the frustration. You will use a regular tape much more and this on occassion. It is well made for around the shop/garage.

I've bought two of these now. The tape began to curl after less than two weeks of use, so it wouldn't lay down on a board as I was trying to measure it. The first time it happened I thought I must have dropped it while it was on a board and twisted the tape, but I babied the second one I bought and the same thing happened. It's disappointing because I love the story pole layout and the onboard pencil sharpener (although it only works for small pencils).

bought local (cheaper), its the Story Pole 25' from fastcap. 1st, made in china. 2nd, works great but with short break at 7 foot. not for framers, its for carpenters though. 3rd, easy to read, that is why I bought it. (old eyes). 4th, regular lock works great with soft thumb, but also has bottom lock. which is cool. 5th, the black is sticky, so as to not roll off project easy. the rest you can read, pencil sharpener, wipe off white board. And, just look good. I never use the belt clip on any tape, so I take them off. #reather see made in north or south america. cant be cheaper coming from all that way. lets get real.

This is a high quality tool, easy to read, just a little bulky but built to last. Probably the best I have ever owned.

For my husband, my beloved craftsman, being able to measure and jot down measurements without having paper available is a great bonus! He really loves this tape / story pole!
