Buddy Buddy

I have been searching for this movie for years and finally found it. It's a great comedy starring Jack Lemmon who has been ditched by his second wife and is on his way to see her to try and patch things up and when she tells him it's over he tries all sorts of ways to kill himself and poor Walter is trying to assassinate an informant and keeps getting interrupted by jack lemmon's antics.If you like Jack Lemmon you'll enjoy this.I just love the old movies and this is one of them.

This is not considered Jack Lemmon's and Walter Matthau's best film but it is one of my favorites. This DVD is, as far as I can tell at this time, the only legal copy of the film you can purchase not on VHS. For any English speaking viewers reading this, there is an English audio track if you do not want to listen to the movie in Spanish. The DVD is in a PAL format, which is non-standard for the United States. If you are in the US or another DVD Region 1 country you will need a PAL compatible DVD or BlueRay player or you will need PAL compatible DVD software. I have found that the current Mac OSX DVD player has no problem with PAL. For Windows users you will need the current VLC or similar DVD software.I watched the DVD on my MAC, which is plugged into my 42" LCD TV via a DVI cable. The video was smooth but fuzzy and lacked fine detail, also colors were muted. It was not any worse than watching on an older non-flat screen TV but is a noticeable when compared to more recent movies that were encoded in the last few years. The DVD has none of the extraneous material most modern DVD's and and BlueRay disk's have. There is no Director's commentary or making of, just the movie. And best of all, no previews. Just pop the movie in and hit play.

How sad to end such a brilliant career with a complete turkey. It's not funny, the narrative doesn't make sense and the spectacular talent - Lemmon, Matthau, Kinski and Prentiss - is completely wasted.I shall do my best to forget this disaster and reflect on his all-time masterpieces.

So I've always loved this movie. This review is for the DVD quality not the movie itself (Love it or hate it, doesn't matter to me) . DVD appears to be an all region PAL format release. Sadly this film has never been released on DVD or BluRay in the US. DVD is wide-screen 2:35 to one aspect ratio which is good. It has NOT been converted to 16x9 which is bad. So with the 4x3 ratio you are looking at a very small image which was very disappointing to me. The English audio was fine. The Spanish audio was quite loud in spots and was distorted. And with a NTSC TO PAL conversion the film is sped up. PAL running time 91 minutes. Original NTSC running time 96 minutes. All in all a poor disappointing release. I'm glad to own the movie in widescreen but it's sad that the movie has gotten zero respect as far as home media. Unless you are a huge fan and desire a wide-screen version I'd skip this release.

In Spanish, had to return wouldn’t work on dvd

It was a little confusing at first being that it is in Spanish, but once we figured out what button to push it was as great as remembered.

I loveI love Lemmon&Matthau and this film is great.To bad it`s not subtitled.

Un Billy Wilder où le titre original est Buddy Buddy. Boîtier espagnol , mettre en VO . Une fois visionné , reprenez le générique ... cela fera "mais oui , bien sûr" avec un film français.

This wonderfully funny film is sadly difficult to get hold of. The Italian cover should not put you off. It's the real McCoy.Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon are just geniuses at comic timing.If you've never seen Buddy Buddy you should. If you have seen it, it easily repays multiple viewings.The hit man having problems with an interfering suicidal depressive would not normally be thought of as material for a comedy, but here it is hilarious. A wonderful classic that deserves a new audience.

Only buy this outrageously poor copy from the Spanish studio, who have demolished a very good film, if you are a very loyal fan of Jack Lemmon, Walter Mathau and Director - Billy Wilder.Yes, the format it has been processed and produced is truly awful.Expect giant black horizontal bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Then while on Amazon, purchase a huge magnifier lens, and you'll be able to watch this truly funny film. A real gem from the past archive.For me, it was sheer torture watching this film, by which I used the tv's format zoom feature.So, only buy this if you are a huge fan. Otherwise avoid until a proper professional DVD comes along.I was going to return it, but no other options exists to replace this awful copy.!

Este dvd no tiene calidad DVD, es como si hubiesen grabado una cinta de video vhs de mala calidad en formato digital. Y el sonido es aún peor.
