Our house got broken into last year on Halloween while I was home. Someone came in through the back gate and was able to get the back door open. I worked nights and slept during the day and the dogs scared them as I think they thought nobody was home. I wanted something easy to install to keep our house safe and purchased multiple cameras, sensors, and alarms. This was perfect for me to set up and feel safer in our home. Then I realized I could have multiple purposes and it could help keep my dogs safe! We have the garage turned into a large room with furniture, dog beds, heaters, and air conditioners for the dogs while we are gone but always had a fear that the temperature would get too hot or too cold, or a fire would start while we were gone and unable to help the pups. I was able to purchase a temperature sensor to keep in there to notify me of the temp reached over or under a certain amount, and several fire sensors to put up throughout the house to get immediate help in case of a fire when we are not home. This has given me so much peace of mind and so many ways. I am so happy I have purchased this system!!

I purchased primarily for a utility room temp sensor for while traveling. Let me know if neighbors should check the house for heating , gas or electric system failures. I was reading the reviews that said it may be used in refrigerator or freezers so grabbed one to see. The type received uses a 2032 battery and does not get a signal through the refrigerator or freezer less than 10 feet away. Should work for intended engineered purposes and is east to adjust the range of temps desired. I'd be leary of thinking this is your fridge or freezer solution. I was able to receive a silent alarm once sitting back on a kitchen table and was able to put the app back into off mode. The base unit remained red until cleared from the keypad locally.

I bought this because we had our HVAC die on us on the hottest day of the summer last year. Thankfully we got home from errands and noticed a few minutes before it actually died but it was 88 degrees in our house! Another hour or two and our kitties could have potentially gone into heat stroke.I tested this by checking that it matched my hallway AC system temp at 78. It didn’t really fluctuate at all (which is good), so I decided to test what would happen if I put in the windowsill in the afternoon sun. When it got 1 degree past my upper limit of 86, our base station went red and had beeping (lighter sound and less scary than when the entry is triggered), I also got a text alert that my hallway temp monitor had triggered. It only took about 15 mins in the window for it to go off.This gives me peace of mind in the summer so I can do outside the house stuff without worrying about my fluffy boys at home.I did not buy this for cold sensor so I can’t say anything about that, it’s the heat that I bought it for.

While away on vacation our pet sitter called and said that the temp in our house was 90 degrees when he stopped in to feed the pets. Turns out the air conditioner quit working and it was going to be another week before we got home. The pet sitter was kind enough to let the air conditioner guy in the next day to repair the ac. We got one of these to monitor the house temp while away. It will tell you the current temperature in the SimpliSafe app and you can set it to alarm at a high and low temperature of your choosing.

I have purchased eight of these, some from Amazon and some from the manufacturer and virtually all of them fail within 3 to 6 months
