This is great!
My 8 year old grandson wanted a treasure box that locked. I purchase a nice on along with this Gemstone Dig Kit. Out of his presents on his birthday, this was the one he took outside first, He loved it.

Decent kit
The chunk that the rocks come in is quite hard, we needed to spray it with some water to break into it. The rocks themselves are really quite small, which was a bit disappointing, but my son's enjoyed it well enough.

Messy, but fun
My girls are obsessed with pretty rocks and gems lately (age 5&8) and this kit was a great find. It was a good thing I made them do it outside tho because it is super messy. The rocks are in a dried clay-like substance and have to be dug out. The girls enjoyed the process and “discovery” of each rock. And the rocks were of good size and color. Overall, this kit is a good value and will keep your kiddo busy for a bit.

Great for younger kids
I bought this product for my son who is 5. He had gotten the national geographic gemstone dig kit for Christmas and really enjoyed it. I got him this kit with the assumption that this one would have different gemstones/crystals as listed on the back of their packaging. However, the the gemstones we got in this kit, were almost the same, but much smaller than the ones we received in the other kit. The guide was almost a knockoff of the national geographic one as well. This kit was easier for my son to dig, it was slightly softer. If you are wanting a kit for someone who is younger, this is a great kit. My son and I still enjoyed digging up the gems together, so not a complete waste.

The kids stayed interested!
I bought this for our Dig VBS for one of the day’s activity. The kids were so excited to see what it looked like on the inside and how different each one was. It was a little hard for the kids to do on their own. It definitely needs adult assistance. It was a great experience!
