Good Design But Not Compatible with Early Hunter Controls
Given that you will be replacing both the fan module and the handheld transmitter with this kit, this observation is not a criticism of the 99119 kit: it will not work with your early Hunter control parts. This product works fine with Hunter fans, but you will be trashing your existing collection of handheld transmitters. The address assignment scheme on the new control differs from the scheme used in their early controls. The size of the 99119 receiver module is the same as the early ones. It will be a tight squeeze in the tiny space alloted in the hanger box, but if the old receiver fit, this one will, too.The transmitter has much better (clickier) pushbuttons than the old transmitter. Runs on a 2032 button battery rather than the old one that used a silly 12V battery.

GOT 3 of these... and USE THEM ALL
These work really well --- especially varying the speed of the fan. While LED bulbs will dim (somewhat)... this kind of bulb is more temperamental than an incandescent bulb. The controller takes some time and skill to install... so you've got to keep your wits aligned w/ the installation process. If you have any difficulties, you can always call HUNTER and a rep will guide you through the process. If you call... make sure you have the instructions in front of you and KNOW what your challenge is.HIGHLY RECOMMEND this remote control... works like a charm.

Hunter 99119 Remote works well
We have several ceiling fans with similar Hunter controls. What is not made clear in the writeup is that not all such controls are compatible with one another. This particular model uses a so-called rolling code similar to recent garage door openers. Older Hunter controls have dip switches and need to be set to match the receiver in the fan. The newer rolling code units are much better in that they are much less likely to interfere with one another, or with those of the neighbor; they are also easier to set up initially. But if you are buying the control as a replacement for a unit you already have (or have lost) you need to be sure you get the right kind. In my case it wasn't a problem as mine was for a new install but caveat emptor.

Great solution for ceiling fan control
I purchased this product after installing a ceiling fan to replace a simple light fixture in the ceiling. I had to replace the fixture box as well, but that is a separate product altogether. The existing wiring was for a single switch at the wall, so there would be no way to control the fan and light separately aside from the pull chord attached to the fan. Being that I don't live in the 1930's, I wanted a remote to perform these functions.Well, the first control I received did not work at all. Double checked the wiring, but it still didn't work so I returned it. Very easy process when dealing with Amazon.Replacement came a day or two later, and I had success. The wiring instructions were very easy for me to follow. There was plenty of wire on the receiver to perform all the wiring. I had to cut a bit of the excess off, but I'd rather start with too much than not enough. Syncing the remote to the fan was also a simple task, I just followed the provided instructions and it worked. The one knock on this product and the reason I took off a star is how the remote is mounted on the provided wall plate. It just does not have a positive feel when the remote is attached to the mount. If you press the buttons while the remote is attached to the mount, it wobbles all over the place and feels like it may fall off. Then again, I bet if it was designed to snap onto the wall plate it would get broken when people brushed up against it by accident and it would get negative reviews for that. The manufacturers just can't win sometimes.Overall, I am happy with this product. The first one didn't work, but that happens. It was replaced immediately and the new one worked.

Multiple defective receivers; poor support
Edit: the second replacement receiver was broken, causing a buzzing sound when the light is on, and extremely slow fan speeds. Having received 3 defective units, I cannot recommend this item at all.Original review:I like the dimming capability for the lights, but it's cumbersome to have to sit with the button held down until the light reaches the desired brightness. The remote feels flimsy. The dimming function doesn't pause long enough at either extreme, and sometimes the dimmer continues dimming even after I have released the button. After a couple months of use, the receiver unit stopped working properly. The lights wouldn't come up to full brightness (107V at output).Called Hunter for a replacement; received wrong replacement item. Called Hunter for replacement again; received defective replacement with a terrible buzzing sound and poor remote range. To their credit. Hunter Fan Company provided another replacement free of charge. The replacement unit was also defective. I've given up.
