Does this ferro rod still work when it is wet or raining?

Yes. The ferrocerium rod throws hot sparks in rain, snow, wind and at high altitude, so a wet match never ends your fire. It is an all-weather flint and steel fire starter built for the backcountry.

How many fires can I start with one rod?

Each rod is rated for 15,000+ strikes, so you can light thousands of fires from a single ferro rod before it is spent. It never runs dry and needs no fuel or batteries.

Will the rod rust if it gets wet or is stored for years?

No. The ferrocerium rod is rust-free, so it holds up to wet packs, humid storage and years in a glove box or bug-out bag without corroding.

What is the handle made of?

A handle varies based on on type. You can choose from natural wooden handle that gives a sure grip that locks into a cold or wet palm or ergonomic grip on other rod handles.

Is a striker included, and what else can it do?

Yes. A steel striker is included and based on the type our fire starters double as a bottle opener, ruler, tinder scraper, hex wrench and straight edge striker so you own one compact tool.
