Clear sound
I’d been unsure about buying a digital radio for quite a while, but finally decided to treat myself as I had built up quite a lot of Amazon credit. I liked the look of this one as it’s a long established, reliable brand and is a nice compact size. It fits perfectly in my kitchen window and now I can listen to my local radio station without any interference even when the microwave is on. It has lots of preset stations and has a clear sound with ample volume control.

Critique
UK brand - made in China.Quiet - only 1W.Sound - generally good, although it can struggle with mid-range frequencies, causing a vibration - e.g. classical piano. The accompanying booklet does not explain all of the features. The 'Standby' countdown is unnecessary and annoying.Update after 18 months of use:The best feature of this unit is its ability to play SD Cards and USB sticks. The worst feature is the CD player which is very temperamental.Furthermore, use of the headphone socket had made the speakers intermittent.

Gorgeous but faulty
It's hard to review this item because I don't know what caused the fault that required me to get a refund (no more in stock). The box was slightly damaged, but the item worked for a week. Beautiful sound quality, clear digital display and very ergonomic to use. I especially loved the volume dial. Unfortunately, this is what broke. After one week, no sound. I turned up the dial and there was a pop, a burning smell and that was that. As I said, no more in stock and I got an immediate refund from Amazon. A great shame.

What a pile of rubbish
Bought this for my daughters bedroom and thought that Roberts would be of the better quality, how wrong I was! Buttons were tacky and small and immediately the cd player was noticeably noisy, sound quality not what I expected either. Anyhow the CD player packed up after just 3 weeks light use and so it has been returned, certainly won't be buying Roberts again.

Decent enough Radio CD for the Kitchen
This was to replace an old Sony portable CD radio player which was absolutely brilliant, so it was going to be a hard act to follow. As I didn't want to spend lots of money I opted for the Roberts as a compromise. It is neat, compact and does the job. The sound quality is ok, so long as it's not turned up too loud. It does the job in the kitchen. Hopefully it will stand the test of time.

Good item
After looking around on line at models and prices, band the reviews, went for this one for my 91 year old mum who had very badly arthritic hands. She loves it, great sound quality and small enough to sit on the trolley next to her chair where she likes to sit and relax. The only thing about this product is the dial switch to switch from cd to radio etc, which we knew about when we bought it, she can manage it. For her it's better than anything digital. Digital confuses, but a straight turn-dial she gets. It's just the physical small switch that isn't great. Overall, a good buy. She loves it.

Fair enough piece of kit
Cannot review the remote as haven’t tried it. Radio is easy to use apart from I have trouble getting the pre-set button to provide that particular option although it does eventually. Main fault is that I have to run it by battery as the slightest movement and the mains lead falls out! Other than that, it looks nice and fits where my old one (different make) used to. However, I cannot believe I did not realise that this did not have a clock on it when I bought it. I would probably have thought twice but it is here now.

Ideal for the use we intended
I bought this initially for my husband when he was moved from hospital to a Nursing Home. He loved his music so much, as an ex-drummer and guitarist before he got ill, so this was ideal to have in his room. It certainly brightened his day and provided conversation pieces with the nurses in the 6 weeks he was in the home before passing from terminal lung cancer. For the joy it brought him in those final weeks, it's priceless.I bought it back from the home when he passed and stuck it in a cupboard, but in my tidying have recently taken it back out, switched it on and started using it. I didn't have another radio at home anyway and used to put the Sky Box on via the TV of a morning when I'm WFH instead. This is much easier.
