What a refreshing insight into this topic. Very well ...
What a refreshing insight into this topic. Very well written and seems very well researched, showing the beauty of the way women are portrayed and spoken to in the Quran. It demonstrates the contradiction between the misogynistic way in which women are frequently treated and thought of, and the reality of the Quran and sunnah, in which they are respected and valued and given the space to participate fully in society as well as political decision making. Raising the debate from the issue of what they should or should not wear, Lamrabet extricates the debate from the two dominant viewpoints that they are either oppressed or delicate creatures I n need of protection. The style varies from the introduction which might put people off who are looking for an easier read, to the much more flowing 3D portrayals of the women in the Quran to the exploration of well known hadith which have been taken out of context or misunderstood and coloured the perception

East to Read and Interesting
This is a wonderful book for those who are looking to understand more about muslim women in the Qur'an. The writer takes a modern feminist approach to interpretation of Quranic text which is both insightful and interesting to read. Definitely inspired me to look deeper into the subject of the rights of women in Islam and what the scholarship is saying.

Must read for every Muslim
A must read for any Muslim; male, female, revert, born Muslim. As a revert female Muslim it was an inspiring read. I won't comment on how credible every point is because I am not a scholar or expert by any stretch but the references the author provides are vast. There is a section at the back of the book where some of the author's points are expanded on or refuted so the book provides an all together well rounded insight. All in all, definitely would say this is a must read and you will have a clearer understanding of what Islam teaches us in the Qur'an and sunnah about females and how they should be seen and treated.
