This work is a magnificent introduction for those who want begin their journey in the land of the Korean painting.

This is a very good book for someone who is looking for an introduction to traditional korean painting, the price is fair for the product you pay. if you are looking for a material which includes folk painting, portraits o a larger selections of works don't buy this book.

As a quick overview to traditional Korean painting, it is not bad. As a huge fan of the Seoul Selection series, this was definitely one of the weaker editions. It should have been better edited, it tends to ramble and at times it's incomprehensible. It spends many paragraphs, time and time again, justifying the very existence of Korean art. And for a book on art, there is simply not enough art in it: there should be examples of every genre it describes.
