Review for Newbies and for Swimmers
WHAT IS THIS STUFF? This is like a Band Aid - it's a strip of cotton with elastic and it has adhesive on one side. It's meant to stabilize injuries, reduce swelling, and keep you moving. I swim and surf but never used this product until swimmer's shoulder, tendonopathy, and lower back pain left me unable to remain active. Plain athletic tape has no stretch - you can't move. There are no scientific studies on this kinesio tape, but many people swear by it. WILL THIS HELP WITH MY ______ PAIN? The biggest problem is when people attempt to use this without any guidance from a professional. I didn't consult my doctor, read directions fully, applied it wrong, etc... It'll be most beneficial with medical input on proper use. Unfortunately, the instruction leaflet encourages you to DIY. If you want to know if it's the best choice for your situation and how to really use it then please ask your doctor. It has helped my lower back pain a lot - my LMT applied it during a session. HOW LONG WILL IT STAY ON? After some kick drills in the pool aggravated my tendon, I then taped my foot with standard KT brand tape with excellent results. Experienced with taping my feet (former dancer), I felt confident. The tape stayed on for about 2 days outside the pool, through showers, and was removed without issue. When attempting to tape my shoulder (no experience) with RockTape the result was ripped skin which kept me out of the water. While it was on it didn't come off during 2 hour swim sessions and showering. My shoulder felt good. KT BRAND OR ROCKTAPE? If you want something that wont stay on too long and feel like you can't live with a temporary cast of sorts, then KT is a good option. I didn't try KT in the pool and it was off in a few days on it's own. If you want something on at least 5 days and will be in the water, RockTape H2O is what you want. Even pro surfers use it. There's a difference in adhesiveness and elasticity. KT has their logo is on each strip but the strips are pre-cut. RockTape doesn't have a logo but expects you to cut your own strips and round off your own corners which is a waste of product. TIPS: Poor application resulted in painful pustules on my shoulder, so please get someone to help you put it on and take it off smoothly. Apply it wrong and it comes off faster. Kinesio tape can be found in a smaller size at Bed Bath Beyond with a 20% coupon if you want to try some without paying full price. For full size products, Amazon pricing is competitive.

Great stuff
I got this because I had a gift card. I’ve seen it before but thought it was probably just a gimmick. First off, I can not get a bandage to stick to me. I have even superglued them to my skin and they fall off once I sweat during a workout. These adhered for 5 days. That’s crazy. Second I thought these were working as a placebo on people. I had a strained shoulder from a recent bike crash. I also put them on my feet (see my pic) to see if they’d stay on for a run. When I put the first strip on my shoulder it felt about as effective as putting duct tape on myself. Second strip was the same. Then the third to supposedly support raising to the side. 5 minutes later I was surprised to notice the dull pain I’d felt for about 2 weeks dissipated to almost nothing. It turns out that while it’s no brace, it does wonders for swelling. Also, the stuff does not come off. Excellent product. I’ll be using it a lot in the future.

Does not cas
This is one of the few K tape that I can use. The tape they were using at physical therapy was causing my skin to blister and come off. Rock Tape is my go to tape. It sticks better and now reaction to my skin.

Absolutely essential in helping performance & injury recovery
Great tape that does it's job. Helps greatly in injury recovery and prevention. I like the tape and has helped me recover several times. It is slightly high in cost but not really a better alternative. The tape can last for several days, but does tend to curl on edges if not applied with a lot of patience and care. Tape will hold through several showers but again the ends will start to curl from water but it is a good product and recommend you try it. I have used for rotator cuff and bicep tendon injuries and it work really well

Perfect for pre-taping for blister prevention
My baby soft feet blister like crazy. I started using this stuff a couple years ago to pre-tape blister prone areas, especially toes. It’s the best thing I’ve tried for that purpose. Depending on the terrain and how sweaty my feet get, the tape might slide around or come off at anywhere from 15-30 miles (with a 45# ruck). On very long rucks (say 45-55 miles over 48 hours) I’ve never re-taped more than one time. I probably could have benefited from two tapings in that distance, but I’ve never bothered.

Love Kinesiology Tape; Happy to Have Found RockTape
I have recently been recovering from Runner's Knee, and I had used KT Tape in the past. My previous rolls of tape had gotten old and wouldn't even stay adhered past the first mile of a run. So, I figured I would see what other brands were out there. This tape has to be cut into pieces, which is both good and a pain in the neck. This tape doesn't have a split down the middle, so I don't have to worry about it separating when applying stretch during the application. I store mine in the fridge and let it come to room temperature before applying so that the adhesive doesn't start to break down like my KT Tape did. I think I'm more of a serious believer in Kinesiology Tape in general, but I feel like there are plenty of benefits to RockTape of the KT Tape, so I think I'll be staying. As I write this, I have tape on my knee that has been there for more than 24 hours through a sweaty and humid run and two showers. Great stuff!

Not good for swimming
This product is not waterproof. Came off during my first swim with it on. I applied it following the instructions on the product website. I even shaved my leg underneath the tape so that hair would not interfere with it. It worked well for other activities (running and biking) but having to change it every time I swim is an absolute waste of time and money.

11/10 would recommend
i have always been using kt tape, but i had a les mills bodypump instructor whose husband is a physical therapist. i was having problems and was trying kt tape. so i asked him about it, and he said rock tape #1 and kt tape #2. i just recently had the money to try it, so i did. and i just now had to take off tape on my legs - that i put on last monday (january 15), and its pretty hard! i have taken a bath and showered every day, even rubbed my loofa over them, and they were still as tight as they were put on. they barely pulled a little while i had them on, but thats because i didnt wear knee high socks over them. also, i didnt shave my legs beforehand (i know some ladies are saying LORD no!), and that actually helped a lot! the hair helps the adhesive stick better, and i really love this kinesiology tape.

Very good
This tape is substantial and has a good resistance to stretching. It was a lot like the tape used by my physio. I found it really helped. Be prepared to grit your teeth when you take it off - it sticks like the proverbial!

Go to when out on the ultra run (mountains)
Been using RockTape for years and it does what it says. Use it to prevent chafing or blisters. Also to support joints and posture. You can leave it on for days and have a shower with it, without it losing its benefits. Has helped us to do multi stage races across the alps and come back in one piece.

Genius
I started using this as I was suffering from Shin splints. I was sceptical at first and thought it was a bit of a gimmick, however it really does make a difference. I would recommend watching the video on how to apply it correctly as it is not just a case of putting it on as you would a plaster. I got about 3 -5 uses from the full roll, and each use last well over a week. It is very resistant to showers and baths (I think this version is designed for swimming in)
