The machine is well constructed, easy to use and produces excellent results. It has 3 grinding sections each with separate guides for working on either side of the knife. First diamond wheel is only for abused knives in very bad condition. Second diamond wheel is for sharpering a simply blunt knife or for sharpening a knife for the first time. Third carbide wheel is a strop for completing the job on knives ex wheel 2 removing the burr or for honing a previously sharpened blade whose sharpness is not quite what it was. Serrated knives normally only use wheel 3 except when in very bad condition can be firstly put through section 2. Blades come out very sharp indeed and repeated application to wheel 3 can actually produce a razor edge. A joy to use.

Wowzer, I've been trying for years with various gadgets to get my knives sharp and fit for purpose. Now every knife in the draw is razor sharp. Damed near took the end of my finger off the day after first sharpening - was so used to dull knives before, I caught my self out cleaning one in the sink. You can actually shave hairs off your arm once you are done sharpening. This one doesn't scrape the sides of your good knives like people report the 110 does, because the locators are sprung plastic and not magnets. I Thought it was expensive when I ordered it, but now I think it is well worth it and a good investment. It's probably about the cost of 1 good chefs knife.I had one knife that I had used for for laying and cutting turf in the garden so I practiced on that first. Now it will slice a pepper skin side up into ribbons.As many others have said 'READ THE INSTRUCTIONS' first, it doesn't work entirely as you might expect.Fantastic item and really glad I bought it.Watch those fingers......

This is my second Chef's Choice 120 sharpener, the other died after 4 years of use, but we sharpen knives every day as we run a business in Spain, and when we are at home we also entertain so the sharpener comes with us to assist in the barbecue preparations.It sharpens knives and serrated edge blades to a fine edge. The diamond sanding disks will eventually dull a little, but this only means pulling the knife through 4 times instead of 3.The only downside, is that I wanted spares for the defunct motor on my previous sharpener and there is none available apart from the diamond sanding disks, but they were cost prohibitive, so when this machine dies there's no viable repair option.

I bought this product to keep my work knife sharp.It arived very fast and very well packaged.The instractions where very specific and it work perfectly.It got my knife sharp again but if you compaire it to the japaneese ones i got had an even sharper finish to them.As far as sharpeners go this product is what you have to buy to keep your knife like new.9/10
