Supplemental learning
My daughter has decided to not allow her youngest son to start any pre-school this year due to the virus. As a family we have all decided to have some impromptu lessons and work with him to teach him some things he would be learning in school. My grandson has started to identify words that are meaningful to him like LEGO. Since he is clearly recognizing some words I thought a sight word book could be part of my piece with his lessons. I think this book is appropriate for ages 4 or 5. I don't think a 3 year old would be ready for it just yet. Of course every child is different. Each page has one activity which helps us complete one task before moving onto the next. I never over do it with him because I want him to find the learning enjoyable. The book is large and each page is 8.5 x 10.5 inches. Some of the smaller notebooks are just a hassle to deal with we have found. There is a very good variety of activities in the workbook: games, tracing, flash cards, rhyming, and sentences. I have found that our average lesson is about 4 pages. Sometimes we can only get 2 in before he gets antsy and sometimes he can focus on up to seven pages at a time. It just depends on his mood and energy level. I keep it simple and allow him to lead the pace. The book takes the organization and planning out of the teaching part of it so I can just sit down with our 'school work' and we can get started.

Excellent Resource for Preschool
The Words to Know Sight Words, Grade Preschool is great for practicing sight words. Sight words are important to just know and should not be sounded out. The book itself has over 200 pages of sight word practice. The words start off easier in the first section and progress to more challenging words. Each word has two pages of practice-on one page you read and write the word and on the second page there are different activities with the word (find the word, color the word, circle the word in a group, etc.). At the end of each section is a review with different activities. As an elementary school teacher with over 15 years of experience, I think that this is a great book for extra practice. As a teacher, I could put the pages in plastic sleeves and use them in centers. If I'm teaching the specific sight word in class I could give these pages as homework. For parents, you could easily use this book at home to get a head start on teaching your child sight words. The book is for preschool students (it states ages 4-5). However, I could see Kindergarten or first grade students practicing these words as well. If your child is struggling with sight words this is good review. My only issue with this book is that the flash cards in the back are printed on normal paper. They should be printed on card stock so that they do not get ruined. I would suggest cutting out the cards and either laminating them or attaching them to index cards.

Great Sight Words Book
This is a great sight word book. The sight words are very important, they are words that shouldn’t be sounded out, children should just be able to memorize them and know what they are when they see them. As we are doing a lot of homeschooling, with schools closed, I started doing the sight words during the summer, and have continued working on them along with my daughter's remote school learning. The book introduces sight words very nicely with a variety of ways to see them, written in a sentence, with very big letters, and words to trace, there is also various presentations in which other words are mixed in so that they can pick the correct words that they’re working on. This appeals to children who learn better visually or through seeing them repeatedly or even with writing them for better memorization. My daughter enjoys finding the words and circling them, it’s like a game for her. There are flashcards at the end of the book, but it would be nice if they were on a little bit thicker paper but I just cut them out and glue them on index cards so that my daughter could practice them. Overall I think this is a great book, my daughter really enjoys it and has learned the majority of the sight words in the book already. I will definitely get another of these for when it’s my sons turn to start learning sight words.

Review book for first 100 sight words
Preschool Sight Words is a 320 page workbook that includes fun activities to allow children to work independently reviewing their sight words. It is packed full of colorful and engaging activities. All the pages include fun activities:* color and trace* stories* hidden pictures* word puzzles* games* Flash cardsA great workbook filled with engaging activities to review 100 of the most commonly used words in the English language. The activities even include writing and coloring.Another nice feature is at the end of each colored section, there is a review. But after looking through the book, I would say it’s better suited for Kindergarten than Pre-K.

Great for getting ready for Kindergarten
I got this as a supplemental workbook for my daughter since we are homeschooling. I really wanted extra Pre-K activities to get her ready for Kindergarten and this sight word book has hit the mark for us. I thought the activities would be a little too much for her but she has caught on quickly and has been able to recognize the words after writing, coloring and finding the letters. I like how the pages are set up, the first page gives the word in a sentence, a large bubble letter of the word for them to color and then a large space at the bottom for her to practice writing the word. Then the next page gives her activities for her to each color, search and find or fill in the blank. It's really hands on and shes's doing great with it. Highly recommend
