Amazing, Just Amazing !
I spent £400 a while back on a portable air con unit, made a hole in a wooden door for the air to escape etc. After about 5 months I couldn't stand the noise, and it still wasn't great. I just bought a Dyson, which is great for heating a room, but not so great for cooling. Then I saw this. Its nicely quiet, even when kinda close up. Im not a one for warm weather, it's ok if your on holiday somewhere, but not when your working from home slumped over a laptop, with your glasses sliding up and down your nose. Just put water in the bottom tank then add the ice blocks 'provided' when frozen also into the bottom tank. Then stick some ice in the top compartment. Sat down switched it on, and i am freezing, :-D no seriously its cool, so comfortable. Dont wait do it DO IT NOW... I got mine on here for £97 I see the price is going up already. As the Germans say --> wunderbar !!

It's not a full-on air conditioner, but it tries to be!
What's really great is that the air that blows out is a lot cooler than the air that goes in - it has a large water tank and a lot of different functions / settings. What's not so great ...1. It's quite big - I'd say a similar side to a large suitcase - and it's not exactly pretty.2. The water tank isn't removable - so as this is in the attic room, we have to take a watering can full of water up to the top of the house every other day :(3. Even on the lowest setting, it's still too noisy to leave on all night for a peaceful night's sleep :( It's not very loud by any means - just not quiet enough.4. On any of the setting other than constant flow, it constantly starts and stops, which is quite annoying. To be fair - it's not a lot more expensive than the tiny units that have Ad placements all over the place and generally have pretty poor ratings ... for the money this cost, it's a great machine and I would highly recommend as an affordable way to bring down the room temperature when it's as hot as it has been recently.

This isn’t an air con unit, but it is quite good.
Air conditioner units versus air coolers confused me.There are two general rules of thumb, if it’s expensive (£250+) it’s an air conditioning unit and will probably need venting out of the window. If it’s cheap, like this (£76) it’s an air cooler which is essentially a big fan which passes air over cold water to make the air cold. Now this product won’t cool a whole room, although bizarrely some reviews on here say it will, so let me rephrase… this product won’t cool our loft conversion bedroom which is ridiculously hot - think loft but really really well insulated on all walls.I left it on in the room for an hour and it didn’t make the slightest bit of difference. However, it soon dawned upon me that it wasn’t an air conditioning unit and that’s not its purpose. It’s purpose is to cool whatever is placed in front of it.So when I went to bed, I pointed it at my naked bum and boy did I have an amazing nights sleep. It’s not particularly noisy and I only needed it on the lowest setting. It’s not sleekly designed like you might expect from say Dyson, but it looks ok and it’s £76.I’m short, it’ll cool anything you put in front of it. There’s a 9L water reservoir at the bottom where you add the provided ice blocks (that you’ll have frozen immediately - or even your own ice blocks). In short, is this the best thing on the market? Probably not. Is it the best thing you can get for £76? Im not sure, but I’d be surprised if there is better out there for the same money. It’s quite a big old unit and the wife is stressing about where it’ll live when it’s not hot!If you’re thinking about buying this product then you probably should. It’s quite a lot of product for not a lot of money - although having only owned it for one day, I can’t comment on its longevity.I think In hindsight an air con unit is probably better, however at four or five times the cost this is probably just as effective provided it’s pointing at you.

Unremovable reservoir-Difficult to clean
This is a lovely cooler. All functions are great, the timer function and the remote control makes it even better. You can feel reasonably cool without using ice packs. The major downside with this is that it does not have a removable water reservoir. I had read when I bought it last year, that it’s removable but that’s not true. I couldn’t return it because baby was almost due at the time and a lot was going on, so Amazon return was the least I wanted to do. But now, I truly regret not returning this item because to change the water, I must carry it to the bathroom to empty it. It’s also tough to clean the reservoir, you can’t reach some parts to properly clean the area and you’ll need to wait a while for water to drizzle out of the not so big hole. In short, it’s tedious task and you’ll still not get a nice clean, so you may have water mixed up with the dirts, blowing at you. The thought of the stress makes me reluctant to use it and to think of what I might be breathing in, worse!Asides this, it would have been a great buy but it’s not, unfortunately.

Very pleased with this Air Cooler
Let me start by saying that this is an AIR COOLER it is not air conditioning. It will not bring down the temperature in a room with any significance, but it will provide a very cool breeze of air when directed to where you're sat. As others have said adding the supplied freezer packs to the water tank does make a difference to the temperature of the output air. On speed 1 the fan is quiet enough to listen to the TV without increasing the volume. Haven't run on speed 3 for very long as not needed. Removing the back panel is very easy and enables you to refill the water tank (but it can also be filled from the top). All the features can be accessed from the remote control. Overall this has kept us, and the dog, very comfortable during the hot weather .
