Entertaining, character driven, and funny!
We follow Susan, Esther, and Daisy as they start their freshman year of college. The three girls move next to each other quickly become close friends. Throughout the graphic novel we tag along as they try to navigate and survive their first year of college. Each girl is very different and I appreciate the variety of their personalities yet how they can all be friends and really support and lookout for each other. Susan is this down to earth girl who we see get tangled in emotions over a guy. Esther appears to be this gothic chick yet she’s full of drama and adventure. Then there’s Daisy who is just a crack up and I’m leaving it to you to figure her out.The artwork is fun and very cartoonish. I love that the story and art flow so seamlessly together and more than once it had me laughing out loud. For me this graphic novel is much more character driven than the plot, but it did still raise some social, personal, and moral issues which I enjoyed. These girls are so much fun and entertaining. I can’t wait to watch them grow through this journey they’re on.

Gotta Have More of Giant Days
GIANT DAYS, by John Allison was, like NIMONA, born from a webcomic Allison had begun much earlier. On the pages of GIANT DAYS we find protagonists Susan Ptolemy, Esther de Groot, and Daisy Wooton hanging out together in Susan's dorm room after the events that take place in the webcomic/mini-series. The exposition is light, and honestly, it doesn't really matter much. GIANT DAYS is a slice of life comic/graphic novel that slowly explores the transition between teen to young adult as our little British girl gang runs and stumbles through their first year of college.Timing is of great importance for GIANT DAYS, because with so many short/small plots that do conclude in some fashion the larger overall narrative could quickly become boring. But Allison manages to keep readers' engaged and interested in what happens next (and what happened before, and who are these girls?!) throughout. The art for the first volume, deftly drawn by animator Lissa Treiman, also adds a sense of motion and fluidity between each panel and page, and encourages the audience to really get into these cuties.I was surprised to find that a lot of Allison's work has female protagonists at the center of the work. Although male, Allison's writing of the female experience doesn't seem contrived, 2-dimensional, or stereotypical. It's rich, varied, and layered - surprise, surprise - like real women's lives! And Allison cleverly tackles issues like romance, sexual exploration and identity, sexism, body image and body positivity, and more in a way that is thought-provoking and humorous.

Brilliant for YA
This Graphic Novel is good if you are a tween, which I am not, I bought it as I was looking for female orientated graphic Novels, and books. Some sections I did enjoy, and I think this title is awesome for teens or YA. Well done.

TL DR: Fun read, great art
I really like this book. The characters are fun, yet flawed. The art is BEAUTIFUL! It looks a little roughed, which is more than fine, because the characters poses and expressions are so expressive and detailed. The backgrounds are fleshed out impressively.Story wise, it is fun. The characters play off of each other in interesting ways. It is college drama stuff, so if you aren't a fan of such things, that would be bad. Personally, I'm generally not a fan of that genera, and feel as though this does it right, or at least differently.I guess one of the things about it is that this isn't "girl sees dude, falls in love, etc. etc." Which can be a lot of school books with a female protagonist. And while a dude is there who probably will be the protagonists boyfriend... again... he isn't the sole focus. Who knows, maybe in later volumes I will eat the words on this post, but for now the characters feel more human. and I like that.Seriously I love this art.

Cute & Honest
What a quick and adorable read. I loved the dynamic of the characters and how well they matched each other. I thought that while the plot was just a typical rundown of days at university, I wanted to see where their lives would take them and what shenanigans would take place next. It takes an easy look at sexuality, friendship, and experimentation without making anything crude or over the top. I can’t wait to read the other available volumes.

Love these girls!
Ah this is one of the gems I read when I was on my very long hiatus, I’ve read read everything that has been published so far and I know I may cry when this series end. Yes I love it.I never thought for the life of me that three girls going to university in England could be so delightful, Giant Days is a true gem. Let me introduce our girls -Susan Ptolemy - The one with the most common sense, she keeps the other two on the straight and narrow (most of the time), she’s a bit of a slob and you’ll be happy to learn she’s studying medicine!Esther de Groot - Goth goddess, fashion icon, attractor of men and women, drama queen, accident prone, student of English lit. Loyal friend. Life of the party.Daisy Wooton - She is said to 50% hair and 100% not ready for this world, she is sweet and innocent, raised by her loving granny. She is struggling a little with her sexuality and is definitely not prepared for drinking and partying. Archaeology student. They are polar opposites but as we all know opposites attract and these girls make a great team. In this first volume the girls deal with an influenza outbreak, Susan learns that her nemesis McGraw is attending the uni (think a young Ron Swanson) and fails to disguise her disgust at his being there (disgust of course in her case equal unrequited love), Esther attracts the attention of some disgusting boys and their online hottie list, and Daisy, well she has the most fun, She has a rather trippy night with the alluring Nadia and at the end of the night she befriends a talking pigeon.I love it, it looks lovely, it reads wonderfully, it makes me laugh and reminds me of my younger days. I really wish I was friends with these girls in real life!

Is fun and fresh
I really like this comic book; is fun, fresh and interesting. It follows the life of 3 young woman during their first year of college, since all 3 have different personalities, is fun to see how they navigate this time in their life. Is like watching a comedy sitcom but on paper. I will continue reading this series.

Giant days is all about fun, friends & finding yourself through giant little mistakes. The panels are vibrant, funny and cute. All three girls have their own quirks, which is fleshed out pretty well. The author tackles a multitude of teen themes effortlessly and in a light manner. This book makes me want to go back to college and spend some quality time with my girlfriends!
