A Tale of Adventure & A Little Bit of Magic
This book pulled me out of my reading slump! Binge read this book within a week of receiving it. It was definitely a page-turner. All the characters felt real with their own personalities, and the relationships between them were believable. The ending was so unexpected, especially what happened to one of the main characters, but I loved it! Great read by an amazing author. (World-building was amazing & believable, too!)

Beautiful artwork! A children's story about adventure and legends
Let me start off by saying that the cover art of this book is what drew me to it. I stumbled upon this book online and quickly ordered it via Amazon. This version is the UK version. The US version, which will be released in November 2016, has less than glamorous art work for the cover and they have also changed the title of the book to: ‘The Cartographer’s Daughter’. Now to the story. This is a children’s book, so fans of YA fiction or older readers please keep that in mind as it does read as a children’s book. The story itself is full of wonder and magic, set on an island covered in mystery and a young girl, Isabella of 13 who longs to discover the island’s secrets. One of Isabella’s classmates is murdered and then the Governor’s daughter and Isabella’s best friend goes missing. Isabella embarks on a dangerous journey to find her friend using only the skills her father taught her in cartography and an ancient map of the island. Isabella soon discovers that the legends of the island and her destiny are tied together and the fate of the entire island rests in her hands. The writing is simple, there is not much depth to the characters, and there are parts that are not fully explained. Overall this was a fun read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys children’s stories about adventure and fantasy.

The Girl of Ink & Stars
I'm only a girl but I really recommend this amazing book to anyone who enjoys adventure or fantasy books and movies. I'm in a book club and I picked this and everyone enjoyed it so it's great for that kind of thing. This was a very interesting book and I couldn't stop reading it . It expressed a lot of emotions and had such different characters that were easy to picture in my head!

What a gift!
This book is truly one of the best books I have ever read. The way the author captures the elements of class storytelling of an island legend while remaining in the voice of the protagonist is a marvelous treat! I could not set this book down and have sung its praises to anyone who will listen. Can’t wait to see more from this author.

With the help of her cartographer father's maps, and emboldened by the the myth of warrior girl Arinta, Isabella goes on the adventure of a lifetime. It's a lovely book. I enjoyed reading it very much. And the cover is so beautiful!

Histoire pas terrible
Livre acheté pour un cours d’anglais. Il est relativement simple a comprendre, mais je n’ai pas été emballée par l’histoire.

It's kind of a weird book, you have to really pay attention when you're reading it. I didn't really understand the reasons for a lot of things that happened but it was a fun read. I don't know if I would read it again but I probably would recommend it to someone wanting a different read. Overall I'm happy with the purchase

How magical
The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave is a magical book about friendship, adventures, myths and courage. When Lupe disappears into the Forgotten Territories, thirteen-year-old Isabella volunteers to help finding her. Her knowledge of the stars and maps is great help to find her friend. As she is the cartographer's daughter she has the opportunity to finally draw a map of the island she lives on. But the journey is not easy and myths about the island become true.First of all, let me tell you how beautiful this book looks. I have never seen such a magnificent book. Not only the cover is amazing, but the pages itself look awesome! The book is worth buying only because of its looks. I would give 5 stars only for how it looks! I love all the small details on the cover and on the pages. And what do people say about maps in books? All good books have a map in them. And this is true with this book. The story itself was magical. The author put lots of myths into the story, which made it so magical and mystical. The stories which are told in the book, are very interesting. They reminded me of stories how an island was made. I love how our heroine believes in all the traditional myths and saves the island by doing so. Isa is a really lovely young girl. She is nearly too mature for her age and has a knowledge lots of adults in the books don't have. Her friend Lupe is also a kind girl. She has a "better" life than Isa, because her father is the Governor. But she loves to be friends with Isa and likes the simple ways of life. She enjoys the stories Isa tells her and fights for what she thinks is right. Pablo is a friend of Isa, he is fifteen years old and helps searching for Lupe. He is a really nice guy and I'm glad Isa has him as a friend. The book is titled as a children's book and I can totally see why. But it is enjoyable also for adults. It catapults you into another world, which still feels very real. Something I did not really like, is that all those young people seem too mature for their age. But all in all, the book was really good. I really recommend it.
