Loved the story
From start to finish it was a delight to read. It has twists and plot turns I didn't expect so it kept me reading every minute I could until I finished. Looking forward to reading other stories from the author, she's a talented spinner of tales.Spoiler alert, if you haven't read the book yet, stop here.Veronica, would you spin tales of Emmeline and Cael Macdonald's clan story, maybe spanning generations of the Macdonald's? That would be lovely!

Terrific!
Full of twists and turns throughout, this is no ordinary ghost story. More a novel of finding the meaning in your life, what you were meant to do, and then giving up the old life to chase down & follow the new one, to allow yourself to be happy. A great book!

Tullybrae House
I enjoyed the story for the most part. The details of the manor were good. I was grabbed into the story as the ghosts started to appear. I was happy with the direction of the book until the whole “save me” theme started. As far as time travel goes, I have read better executed stories. It all seemed rather desperate, selfish and tragic the way things were pulled off . The author did not give her characters positive options that would not mean throwing away everything. I realize the author was going for “extremely romantic”. Throwing away one’s life just does not fit well with me.

incredible story
I could not put this book down. The characters, the love, the fear, this could easily be made into a movie. Blew me away!

Love can transcend time and even existence
I have read a couple of Veronica Bales novels and The Ghosts of Tullybrae House has definitely made me a fan. Her writing style is engaging and enthralling. Well crafted characters, plot twists and unexpected developments, and reader empathy places Veronica Bale with my other favorite authors Bella Forrest and Irina Shapiro. Looking forward to more stories from VB.

Exceptional
Very well written and conceived. No plot holes and a particularly satisfying ending. I want to read more from this author.

Give this a read
I thought this was going to be a dual timeline story. It was and it wasn't. It took a minute to get where it was going but worth the ride.

a good read
i loved this story BUT there were quite a few anomalies that made me wonder whether the author had actually been to the UK .Small things that distracted me from the story e.g. i've yet to meet anyone who said 'cor!' on a regular basis and the idea that the landlord of a pub would come from behind the bar to take a drinks order is pretty unlikely . I know it sounds picky but really affects a sense of place when you're reading . That said i really enjoyed the plot and the characters and found it hard to put down .

Wonderful
I have given this book 5 stars because it deserves it. The story moves along at just the right pace, and the characters, including the ghosts are engaging. I quickly became especially fond of Lamb. Could picture each of the characters and all of the settings. The story came to life for me. Was sorry when I finished the book but the unexpected ending was a treat. OK so you have to suspend belief but this book made it easy to do that. Will read more by this author.

Light reading
I must admit to being caught up in this story but at the same time the idea of falling in love with a ghost is pretty silly. Most annoying was the american vocabulary which slipped in incongruously and some bad research... I don't think larks sit on window sills and you can't plug electrical appliances into bathrooms, especially not in old Scottish mansions. The abbreviation for university is Uni not U.... and an excavator is a large digging machine not a person working on an archaeological dig. I could go on and it sounds petty but it undermined the work. Having said all that I enjoyed it!

Gripped!
I can agree with other reviewers and perhaps criticise the language but I was hooked after a couple of pages even though apart from the wonderful Barbara Erskine, this is a genre of novels I rarely read. I’m a crime, thriller, espionage type of reader. I was gripped by the story line and read most of it on a flight to Cyprus. Four and a half hours of uninterrupted enjoyment. I am so excited to have found a new author so that I have lots of new books to read.

Amusing tale of an old house populated by ghosts. ...
Amusing tale of an old house populated by ghosts. Cared for by the old family butler, whose mother (a ghost!) constantly bosses him around. The heroine is employed as a curator to catalogue the vast number of artefacts remaining in the house encounters a number of ghosts and sets out to determine who they were and what they were trying to tell her, leading to interesting discoveries about Tullybrae House and its history. An interesting read.
