Excellent time travel
I often feel like rolling my eyes at tropes like a woman uses time travel to find a man but for some reason, I enjoyed this one. Maybe a couple of eye rolls were let loose in the beginning, but I thoroughly enjoyed the MCs' chemistry, all of the characters were interesting, and everything felt real. I could tell the author had done some research and that the story was well-thought-out. I highly recommend this book.

Intertwined
While somewhat feeling like a Hallmark romance, it delightfully goes off track down the lane of 'what ifs'. Two personalities, separated by time. How in the world does this come together?

Swoony and lots of fun!
*Happy and contented sigh*This book was such a fun and delightful read. I was super exhausted when I started it and went on vacation for the holiday weekend that it took me a little bit to get into. I really wanted to read but when I finally had a moment, I'd read one paragraph and find myself falling quickly asleep. So after slowly getting a handful of pages into the book, I finally got some sleep and rest, and tah-dah, read and finished the book. I've heard lots of good things about this series and after reading this author's other series I finally came and started this one. The last book, #5, is sitting in my pile of review books so I really didn't want to start at the end, although I have heard it works as a stand alone. So I found a moment in between review books and dove right in(well after getting some sleep).I honestly was highlighting like crazy. I love that I can highlight on my kindle and color code it. The funny quotes, the more thoughtful quotes and most definitely the sweet and swoony quotes. When I was looking back over my highlights there was a good mix of all the colors. And I have to say lots of funny moments in this book. Oh the whole play on words, you know when in America a phrase or word means on thing but in England(or any other country) it means a whole different thing. I was dying over one passage talking about a character having health issues and after a day of traveling and activities everyone was discussing her being over done with exhaustion. Ok, I didn't say the phrase used so you'll have to go find it yourself. Ha! I was very tempted to include it in my quotes but didn't want to spoil the hilarity of that moment. It was pretty funny. And 'Alter Emme' cracked me up at that scene.Alter Emme is super funny and I loved her little asides...who is Alter Emme? She is merely Emme's subconscious or mental thoughts and added lots of fun to the story. Instead of too much of my thoughts for a review on this book I decided to share several quotes with you that I loved. Not all of the quotes that I highlighted, but a handful. There were too many to share and all of them were great.Emme and James...sigh. Just great! Loved them lots! I loved the setting and the secondary characters as well. At least the main secondary characters. There were a few I felt I could take em or leave. I'm sure you'll know who and why and feel the same way when/if you read this one., although I reserve the right to change my mind the further I get into this series if I'll continue to feel the same about those characters. The jury's still out.Nichole Van can definitely create an amazing and enjoyable story with wonderful prose and complex characters. I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series. Watch out for the swoony moments, the snorting/giggling moments and the moments of contented bliss."There are moments in life that sear into the soul. Brief glimpses of some larger force. When so many threads collapse into one.""Mr. Knight laughed, an enigmatic expression on his face. He gave her a long, measured look. 'I assure you, madam, I would most certainly remember if we had met before." Emme blinked. Indeed.""He was utterly shameless. You mean utterly magnificent, right? Alter Emme sighed. Emme forced herself not to agree.""Not mine! Not mine! He would pull his thoughts back and try to find that mental box again, to shut her away.""'And zombies,' James deadpanned. 'Her ninja skills are also useful against zombies.' And, really, that did it. Any part of Emme that had not been in love with James thoroughly collapsed in that instant. She was his. Utterly and completely. The moment was beyond perfect. The most perfect of all her perfect memories.""'I warned you,' he whispered, low and rumbly in his divine aristocratic accent. 'You are the one and only thing I cannot live without. I would follow you to the ends of eternity, my love.'""'I'm sorry to have alarmed you. Though, I must admit, it was remarkably funny. Does Emme know you scream like a girl when startled?' Marc threw back his head and laughed."Content: Clean. Some kisses and a couple, more intense, kissing scenes but nothing further. A few scenes talking about where Emme comes from(she looses her memory after being transported back in time) and implied that she is a courtesan, also one character propositions her, nothing graphic or crude. A handful of mild swear words throughout.Happy Reading!!!

A great read
Intertwine was a great read. I loved the writing style even if I didn't necessarily love what was written if that makes any sense. I was drawn in with the language and structure of the story, but the beginning did drag on a bit. It was definitely a slow start to a great story.Emme finds a locket at an estate sale and is drawn to the guy who's photo is in it. There is an inscription on the locket, but no actual names. The only things she has to go on is "F". She is kind of obsessed with the locket, it has ruined some relationships in the past, and that was kind of odd. She spend years thinking about who the guy could be and finally decides she needs to try and move on. To put this behind her. In order to do so she is going to find out everything she can about the owner, the guy in the locket, and hopefully that will help her move on. She goes to England to stay near where she thinks the man lived and see what she finds. I should also note that she has a very adventurous travel life, even if she doesn't necessarily want it to be so. Things just happen when she is traveling, like getting attacked by pirates and luggages mishaps and everything that could happen does. It was fun.James longs for adventure. He is in 1812 and must stay on his estate and help his sister who is ill. He wants to go travel the world, but he can't. He wants to be there for his sister as well and unfortunately she needs him.He thinks nothing exciting will ever happen to him, even though he desperately wants it to, until he find a lady half dead in a horrible storm on his estate. Of course this lady is Emme, and James cares for her while she is unconscious. He is drawn to her, but when they find her locket with a picture of a guy who looks remarkably like him, though with the name that starts with F, he knows she might be spoken for already. This story was fun. When Emme wakes up she can't remember who she is or anything about herself. She just has to continue living and trying to figure out what is going on. Who is F? Does she have a love somewhere who is searching for her? Or can she give into her growing feelings for James? It was really a lot of fun to read. Some of the scenes were just hilarious. Like when she makes up her backstory with Princess Pepsi of Toyota Camry and so on. What a hoot! She is always doing things that are not quite correct, like offering to shake someones hand, but can't seem to remember the correct way to curtsy and such. It is all a big mystery and fun times. I loved watching her and James grow closer and try and figure out who she really is.Now overall I did really enjoy the story. As I said the beginning dragged a bit, but I loved the writing so much I didn't mind too much. There was one thing that really bugged me though and that was when Emme awoke and didn't know who she was they had to come up with a name to call her. They went through a few E names (since the locket was addressed to E and they all assume that is her), and settle on Emma since she feels that is close to her real name. Fine, no problem there. The issue? Well when the story was focused on her, when it was her thoughts and feelings, she is referred to as Emme. When someone else is the focus it is Emma. I kept thinking that she got her memory back as it doesn't make any sense for her to be Emme when she doesn't remember she is Emme! Honestly when she woke up I thought she was kidding about the loss of memory because of this. It was confusing and I don't understand. If she is Emma she should be Emma. A little thing, but it kept bothering me throughout the story. Still a really great read and I can't wait to read more! This review was originally posted to Jen in Bookland

Personally, I really enjoyed this book
Did not think I was particularly fond of time-Travel romances, but I found I really enjoyed this book. I prefer not to give too much of the story away, but I was rather pleased with how the author dealt with that aspect.I initially found the main female character a little frustrating with her inability to grasp that she was 200 in the past, but I guess I would find it equally hard to accept.Overall when I finished reading the book, I was disappointed that I didn’t have the next book! However it is a 5 book series and was delighted I could jump immediately from book 1 to books 4 and 5, because I did have those! Each book is a stand-alone book - so I happily read and enjoyed the others - but if you enjoy book 1, and can read in order, then I think you would be pleased.I do plan on buying books 2 and 3, so am more than happy to recommend this book/series.

Great idea let down by modern-day language in places.
Good idea with potential but let down by poor reasearch of English language. Frequently lapses into moden Americanisms let it down. The leading man refering to a handbag as a purse was anachronistic, though reticule would be more appropriate. Likewise the use of the word period rather than full stop. There was other jarring words and grammar which were poorly researched. I know time travel romances lend to having to suspend belief but these lapses stopped the book flowing.

Perfect start to a brilliant series!
I love time travel books but struggle to find ones that are clean and well written without gaping holes or improbable situations. This book hits all the right boxes for me! I have read it (and the other books in the series) 3 times within the last month. Funny, sexual tension without anything improper, great writing, fantastic storyline, relatable characters with normal flaws. I love it! This is one that I look forward to sharing with my daughter when she grows up (aka is old enough to enjoy a good romance. Because it is clean I am fine with her reading it much younger then I would with many other romance books)

read all the books
I came across the first book in this series by accident, I have since read them all. I am now looking for any other books by this author. It is so great to read a well written good story that makes you want to get to the end as soon as you can. All the books were fantastic, please read them it is worth it.

A great read!
Regency is not a period I normally would read in fiction but I do like time travel novels and bought this one because I had just finished Nicole van's brilliant Maldetti series and I figured that anything written by such a talented author would be a good read and his right I was.The characters are real!y engaging and one is drawn into the story straight away. Have just downloaded the next three books and can't wait to read them. Highly recommended
