Great basic set with some thoughtful bonus features
Very nice product for the price. Magnets work as advertised. Strong, but not so much that moving pieces is uncomfortable. I'd say they got the magnet strength spot on. Very nice to be able to move or set aside and not worry about pieces flying. I think that "exquisite" pieces might be overselling, but I will say a very attractive set and the pieces feel good in the hand, smooth and nice size and weight for the size of the set. The extra queen for each side is a nice touch and the checkers were also a great bonus for this set. Note: checkers are not magnetic, only the chess pieces. Also, the board won't lie flat with checkers in so you might want to remove them to play.

I'd buy it again
It's the perfect size to travel with without the pieces being so small that it's annoying to play. The magnets work really well for each piece. The set also came with two queens and checker pieces, and all pieces hold really snug in the foam molds when the set is closed. There is a smell that is something like real wood mixed with glue and plastic but it smells like every other wood-like set I've played before. Nothing too strong. The pieces aren't all perfect or created with master craftsmanship but for the price and purpose of the set, it's not noticeable nor does its imperfections get in the way of playing a good game.

A very nice chess set, BUT . .
The first one I received had ALL white chess pieces. It was a gift. Imagine my surprise and embarrassment when my friend opened his gift! Poor product control from the manufacturer. Received a new set that had the correct pieces. At least Amazon could say "SORRY!".

A Nice Set for Chess
I bought this for a trip we were taking with our grandchildren. I wanted to take the opportunity to teach them chess. We had a terrific time with the set. The magnets were strong enough to hold in place, the set had a lovely style to it, and I was particularly pleased with the storage. It was easy for the grandchildren to store all the pieces when we completed a game.

Perfect travel chess
We absolutely loved our travel chess set! It’s perfect for bringing with us on trips. It’s durable and is pretty easy to pack. It takes up a bit of room in a suitcase but fits well in a backpack so we didn’t have a problem. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys playing!

Great Idea
This chess set is excellent. Its presentation is excellent, all the pieces fit in their own tailored, felted spaces. The magnets word perfectly. The pieces stay in place as they should. The size is smaller than I expected, but we still love it!
