When it comes to spoons I've caught the most fish off the surf with this spoon. I think the buck tail is the key so it's possible any spoon with a buck tail would have the same success but I've used this one and can attest to is being better than any other spoon I have and it's the only one with a buck tail. I will say I had a kroc spoon that did well too but not as well as this one and the kroc DID not have a buck tail which is why the buck tail has me sold. The one downfall, that buck tail is very poorly attached and didn't last long. When the tail finally came off it became less effective. I should have done more to preserve the buck tail and I will be doing that with this second purchase. Ultimately the old one ended up in the deep or I would have tied on(or attempted) a new tail. I haven't had this lure in a long time and I am finally coming back!

The "bucktail trailer" that comes on the hook is nothing like the picture. It's just a few strands and will begin to fall out after first use.

The design looks great, however, when changing out the split ring to a stronger one, the eye of the lure broke, very thin and soft metal. Wound up saving the hook, but tossing the lure. Still a great design, just be more careful than I was ...
