feels heavy duty, like it has some weight to it. roller can be a little tricky but overall, I think it's a good lock. my only complaint is the little rubber cover on the bottom does not stay on very well. would buy again

What a hearty lock! High quality, easy to program passcode. Love how the combo digits are located underneath bottom with a protective rubber flap. Built to last. Great design. No regrets here. Glad we purchased.

Bought the 1178 as a more weather resistant lock to replace a Master 175 I'd been using. The 175 would often freeze up in the winter, necessitating a propane torch to warm it up a bit before it would unlock. So far, despite freezing rain, snow melt, etc. that would have had the 175 froze up, this one has unlocked every time, no torch, no problem.

This lock is a great lock. It’s heavy and a nice silver color. The issue we have is that the numbers aren’t quite visible making it difficult to open and use. The lock does work great though. The price is fair considering how well made it is.

The locks arrived on time, thanks to Amazon. The boxes that the individual locks were in are flimsy and the ends were not closed so the locks were free to move about. No damage was done. Given how difficult blister packs are to open, I prefer the flimsy boxes. It is real easy to set your own combination and no special key is necessary to put the lock into the reset mode. Master has another lock that does require a special key for setting the combination. I returned those locks. Some people complained that when the lock is open, the combination dials cannot be spun and this allows the combination to be read by anyone with access to the open lock. This is true. This is a function of dial type locks. I have other devices with this type of lock and I can live with it. Both sides of the shackle have the indent meaning that both sides of the shackle are secured when locked, vs. a weaker lock with an indent on only the free side of the shackle. The locks seem secure and well made.

Be VERY CAREFUL when you set the combination on this lock. After you set the tumbler wheels to "your combination", and BEFORE re-inserting the shackle, CHECK, CHECK, AND DOUBLE-CHECK that the tumblers have not moved. I just goofed this and now I'm out $22+ dollars for a lock I can't use. My fault, and I'm not blaming MASTER LOCK, but again, be careful. Pros: It's a MASTER lock. It's heavy-duty, well-built and I'm confident that it would have worked as well as the other MASTER lock's that I have used for years. Cons: a) English is not the first language presented on the instruction sheet and the instructions are in very, very fine print. b) The number centering on the combination wheels, IS NOT in the center of the lock. Don't know why they designed it this way, but I'm sure there's an engineer somewhere that had a reason...

Prompt delivery with just what I wanted

This lock has held up amazing over three 100 degree F summers and snowy single digit winters. The instructions were easy to follow and the lock still works smoothly after these couple years. The only tiny down side is that the little rubber cover over the numbers does fall off sometimes. It’s easy to put back on as long as you can find it. Definitely recommend

Solid lock that has held up for 2 winters, through rain, hail and snow. No sign of rust yet.

Se ve de buena calidad, ya lo empezamos a usar y está excelente, eso sí, no le entiendo porqué tiene una cosa de plástico abajo si se cae a la primera, no entiendo cual es la función o el deber ser.

Using this on a storage locker. No problems so far. The rain cover seems a little flimsy but still intact after 6 months. But the lock itself is very sturdy.
