The Seagull Manager: How to stop the swooping, squawking, and dumping

Creative Read with Great Insights
For a book targeted towards people in managerial roles, the light tone is a refreshing change of pace from all the boring humdrum technical books that are a dime a dozen now a days. With fun characters and well-thought out story telling, Travis tackles complex human topics with a birdseye view of the bigger picture. With insightful commentary on how to address and improve dynamics in the office space, I find it to be one of the few books that is actual worth a read cover to cover than just a scan through. I highly recommend a read through, you will learn and think of office dynamics in a different light afterwards.

Are you a Seagull Manager?
I suppose we all are to some degree and that’s part of the fun with this book. Learning how you can improve as a leader and manager is generally not easy, but it sure is with this book. It’s a fun, fast read that’s packed with powerful lessons for anyone who manages people. Charlie’s journey to learn the three virtues of great leadership is one that I will not soon forget. I’d give this book 10 stars if I could.

WIsh my manager would read this...
I don't usually read a lot of business-related books, but my friend recommended it to me, and it flew by in one sitting! I love how the book took a complicated common issue and made it into something light, funny, and interesting. It's pretty crazy to think about all the lost productivity and good employees who quit as a result of seagull management.

Expected better from the author
The approach, the analogies and the lighthearted approach was well and good if the author had something valuable to say. The approach to handling each situation was not an in depth learning experience. After reading his blogs, I expected better.

It really helps avoid swooping
It's an easy to read guide on how to set expectations, and lead your team to success. I will be lending it out to my management trainees for the foreseeable future

There is something new under the Sun.
I have read all of the great management texts, but have slowed down since my retirement in 2004 because of ill-health. I am currently working on a project as a first-time author and came across this book in my recommendations from Amazon. Love the message of this book, and I actually picked up some new tips which I can also use in my personal life as a husband, father and grandfather. Every manager should read this book!
