First off, this is NOT a paid review. I firmly believe Amazon should stop accepting those types of reviews. You should let them know, as I have, if you're opposed to that practice. This screen works very well. It stops splatters from messing up your stove top and clothes, if you know what you're doing. Do NOT drop food into hot oil and then rush to cover it. Rather, get your foods organized on a platter and gently sweep them into your saute/fry pan using the screen. You will get very few escape splatters once you get used to doing this with the right fluidity of motion, like those of us who used to do table-side saute dishes in high class restaurants. Also, who can say this is a heavy screen? Are there really such wimps out there? I can lift this screen with one finger, literally. Also, to clean this screen is as easy as pie, if you know the trick: One cup of water in the microwave for ninety seconds. Get your hot water running. Hold the screen over your sink. Quickly pour the hot water over the screen in a circular pattern. Turn on your sprayer. Spray the screen. Pat it dry. That's it! (You do understand that the grease side points down, right?)UPDATE: I have deducted one star: First, this is single mesh. There is only one mesh layer and its thickness is the same as most other screens I've used. I examined it under a stereo scope and compared it to other screens. There was no difference, perhaps a fraction of a millimeter thicker than a few. Second, there was a needle sharp, unfinished screening tuck around the rim. It punctured my fingers twice before I found it. Using the scope I worked that sharp piece under the rim, where it should have been, in the first place. This was not as easy as it sounds. Without my scope, it would have been harder, yet. Still, a good product, but it could be better.

This is a very high quality, heavy duty splatter screen made of fine double stainless steel mesh. My previous splatter screens were purchased locally in batches of three, but after a few uses, they turned black or dark brown in color, and lost their chrome looking finish. However, they were inferior painted metal, and not real stainless steel. This one is definitely worth the higher price ($16.95) and comes with a loose fitting silicone handle to keep the handle from overheating. The silicone handle, however, fits somewhat loosely, so I am afraid the splatter screen might slip off. Also, the splatter screen has feet on the bottom, so you can remove it from the fry pan and set it down on the stovetop or counter, without smearing oil on those surfaces. This is probably the best splatter screen I have purchased, and I want to purchase one for my daughter as well.

Just the thing to save me the hours of stove cleaning that I was enduring with this whole fat and protein diet...AKA Bacon. As Alton says, single use items are a tough sell for me but, like him, this is one that I am glad to buy. Loved that it came with a silicone handle sleeve - didn't even notice it in the initial purchase. Nice, too, that it has little nubbin legs to hold the screen off your counter when you are maneuvering said bacon. This inexpensive gizmo has made my life A LOT easier. Next up...spaghetti sauce! You know how it bubbles and spurts no matter what level of heat is applied. Betting this cares for that issue, too. Well worth the $. Shipped nicely, too.

I tried my splatter guard last night and was less than impressed. We made scallops wrapped in bacon, so it wasn’t anything too greasy, and it was as if I didn’t even have the guard on the pan. The splatter went right through onto the stove top and had to be cleaned immediately afterwards it was so significant.It did hold up well through the dishwasher, but I am ultimately unsatisfied with the splatter guard as it did not do what it is intended for.I tried replying to the email from the ‘seller’ and it was continuously bounced back to me.

I was delighted to find a 13 inch "fine mesh" guard. My existing one is 11 inches and does not cover my favorite frying pan. I find it does a poor job. The stove looked as though I did not use a screen at all. I will include a picture showing what my real double mesh screen looks like vs. this one. Decide for yourself. I can't read the name on mine since it has been washed so many times. I think Farberwear?? Before you buy a screen hold it up to the light. If light can get through easily, so can grease.

Another item I wish I purchased years ago. I use nonstick pans as they cook better. Therefor I do have to use some oil. I was tired of cleaning the stove top after everytime I cook from splashing of the food etc. This solved my problem, it probably takes away 90% of my issue so I am very happy. It seems to also be made of good quality and should last a long time. It is also dishwasher safe which is a must for our house!

Although I doubt I'll ever use the handle cover that came with the splatter guard, I think I'm going to love the splatter guard itself. The guard is so much sturdier than my previous one which is a big plus. I must admit I put my old one in the oven to keep a dish from splattering all over the inside of the oven and it wrecked it; I don't think that treatment would hurt this guard at all. This guard is the perfect size for my large All Clad sauce pan and works like a champ. No more mess on my cooktop. I am delighted with my purchase.

I would have kept this, but the whole reason I bought this model was because of the heat resistant handle. The sleeve is much bigger than the handle so it comes off too easily. I know we'll lose it in the drawer and I don't want to have to use a potholder to take the screen off as I'm cooking. 3 stars because I'm sure it works as a screen, but didn't have an important feature I was looking for.

Great well constructed item, also like that it comes with a silicone handle.Saves my ceramic cooktop stove from unnecessary splatters, don't know whatI would've done without it.

Quality is great but is larger than expected. Would have preferred something a tad smaller for the screen guard. However, it certainly does the job of preventing splatter. Love the extra silicone handle cover that came with the order... very useful. Many of my pot and frying plan handles are made of stainless steel which get hot and the silicone handle cover is just perfect ...

Awesome splatter screen. Really reinforced so it will last a good long time without pulling away from the edges especially when hand washing. Now if I could just keep it from disappearing under the stove when I put it away in the drawer under it. It sits on top of the pans under there and likes to slide off and behind the drawer. Good thing it'll stand up to many more hand washings!
