Pretty good, but far from perfect!
Geez...I was really hoping this would be a near-perfect device...after reading all of the other 5-star reviews, I feel a bit let down by this device. This is the second device of its kind I have tried with the iPad mini/iPad mini Retina Display. The good...The keyboard is definitely the highlight. The previous one was impossible to type on beyond just two-finger typing. This one is much better and the keys feel really good. They had to make some hard choices on getting rid of the function keeps and where to put the additional characters that one needs on a keyboard. I have no problems with these choices. I can also see how some would judge this device solely on the keyboard. However, I'm not one of those people...I look at the other features too.The other highlight is the way you can fold the cover back to put the device in tent mode. I do find this very useful. The bad...well, the bad things tend to add up for me...and I have several issues....the case itself is slippery....man...be careful when you first get this device...it could slip away from you if you don't hold it correctly. Hold it with your hands, don't fold it in your arms or anything like that. Also, the keyboard portion has a rather sharp edge or lip around the border..totally unnecessary....next...the charger port didn't let my Amazon Basics lightning cable charge the device. It is cut too tight. The Apple cable fits, but that's it. Also, the headphone jack doesn't fit anything but the Apple headphones. I have several others that don't work with this case that did work with the previous one. Also, the holes for the speakers are rather small and they muffle the sound from the device! Geez! This is a third-party accessory that allows the use of no other third-party accessory. And it kills your sound volume. All at the high price of $120. All of this adds up to a major disappointment for me. And get this...had they made the holes / ports larger, the device would weigh a bit less (okay, a tiny bit less, but if you make thousands of these you save money someplace). It tends to be a bit heavy when used with the Retina display mini...August 21, 2014 Edit: This device does NOT allow one to use the standard Apple-branded Lighting AV cable. This is a $50 cable used to connect your iPad to a VGA to drive an overhead projector. I assumed it would work with the Apple version which I bought in Feb 2013, but it will not. For me, this is just the last straw. I'm returning this. BTW, I think all of this could have been avoided if they had just left the lightning port / speaker area open rather than filling it in with material so tightly. So, if your main thing is typing out some words, then this may be the right device for you. If, on the other hand, you want full use of your mini and use third-party accessories, this is probably not the device for you, more so given the price. When I pay top dollar I expect all of these issues to have been thought through and allowed for. That didn't happen here. Why are the asking top price...probably because they thing Apple users will pay....hmm....

Cracked case replaced after 16 mos of use. Happy!!
I have had my ClamCase for a little over a year. Loved it! Turned my mini from a toy to a tool and I used it a lot! HOWEVER despite the fact that I was extraordinarily careful with it, the case developed cracks at the hinge (where a piece actually fell off) and at the outside corner of the lid. I super-glued the outside corner and kept going. Now however, the case has stopped holding a pairing with the mini. It appears to pair, but loses it as soon as I try to use the keyboard. So I contacted ClamCase support. I called and sat on hold for awhile before they gave me a chance to leave a message - talk fast - it cuts you off in less time than it takes to give them the info they request. Then I put in a support ticket, to which I got an automated response (so I know they got the request) After 4 business days I have gotten no response from their support team. In the mean time, I figured out that the hinge had gotten sloppy and allows itself to be positioned in a way that will not hold the pair. If I am very careful, I can position it correctly and the keyboard will work. (The first photo shows how the case wants to open, the second shows how it is designed to open and work properly.) So I am back in business, sorta. But I am very disappointed in ClamCase and especially their support. As many others have noted, ClamCase gets high reviews, but it does not hold up, and they do not support the product. Very sad cuz it really is an awesome idea! The day after writing this review, I heard back from tech support. The first response was a cut and paste instruction on how to pair the case - to which I responded with "did you even read my email?" THEN FINALLY a real person asked real questions and after a couple emails, they agreed to send me a NEW CASE!! I just got it today, it is beautiful and I am back in business. So, I contacted them about clamcase problems 16 mos after purchase and they replaced the case. I cannot ask for more. I am completely satisfied, and back in love with my clamcase.

The best Keyboard case for Ipad
Clamcase is very nice and very light. This case is gorgeous to look at and fits my Ipad Air 2 like a glove. Hinges are a bit stiff but not floppy so when using the touchscreen the case does not move. Its also very light and not bulky but sometimes the bluetooth takes a bit to sync to the device. Keys are very good and not sticky but I still wish that this case came with a backlight keyboard for the price. One thing that I would change for the next model would be to make the keyboard part of the case a bit bulkier so when I have the Ipad in laptop mode and bring down the screen it will not fall over and a backlight keyboard for when using it at night.
