Joseph Joseph Scoop Potato Ricer Masher, Green

This is a great kitchen tool, don't know how I've gone so long without it. The fist time I even heard of a potato ricer was when I made gnocchi for Christmas last year. I did not own one and borrowed one from a friend. It was a big ugly metal thing that looked a bit rusty and was very difficult to use. The gnocchi came out OK, but certainly not worth the effort! Then someone told me that the best mashed potatoes are made with a ricer/masher and, since I hated bringing out the electric mixer to make mashed potatoes every other week, I bought this. You just scoop the cooked potatoes out of the pot and squeeze them through the metal grate on the white side and long pieces of potato come out. The first time I did it, I thought, well that's not mashed potatoes, but then I stirred them up and they sort of melted into mashed potatoes. I was amazed. And, they truly did taste better! Clean up is a breeze. It comes apart and each piece is very easy to clean with a warm soapy sponge. I'm sure it could be put in the dishwasher, but I chose to wash by hand. Yesterday I made, for the very first time. Red beans and rice and the recipe said to run half of the beans through a food processor to slightly chop them and make the sauce thick. Well, I did not feel like lugging out, and cleaning up, the food processor, so I used this instead. It worked great! I squeezed as much as I could from the beans and any bits that were left, I just threw back in the sauce. I had to squeeze those beans pretty hard and this tool held up perfectly! That is when I decided to come back and leave a review. It's just a great kitchen tool!

Works as expected. Is very easy to use. I would have given it 5 stars, during uses, if you over extend it the green part of the unit comes off and gets a little annoying.

I just loved this smasher . Easy multipurpouse easy to clean and sturdy material . Gives me very flufy smashed potatoes.

Works ok. I have smaller hands so had to have my son do the ricing for me because I wasn't able to get a firm enough grip. Not sure that I will use it again.

The simple two piece construction makes this a snap to use and clean! Potatoes are broken up into small pieces for light and fluffy mashed potatoes instead getting squished into a gluey mess. My husband isn't a big detail person when I comes to food but even he noticed the difference. No complicated discs, no tiny areas for water or food to get stuck in...I love this ricer. Can't wait to use it to make baby food for my daughter...way less hassle than getting (and cleaning) out the food processor or blender!

Didn't really work for me even thou the potatoes were soft , I just couldn't get it to work , had to just get the old potatoe smasher instead

This is very heavy and much too hard to use.

Excellent tool, and like most Joseph Joseph products, an idea so clever and yet so simple you can't believe nobody thought of it before! It makes lovely smooth mash, but you need to make sure you don't overload the scoop, or it is pretty difficult to force the potato through the holes.

Es mucho mas práctico que un prensa papas común. Me gusta mucho el diseño de Joseph Joseph. Es un poquito grande el utensilio, pero es muy bueno. Muy recomendable!

Has changed the way I mash! My mash would sometimes be gloopy and disappointing but not anymore with this device. It is easy to clean and mashes (or rices!) the potato's without the need for butter or milk. Perfect for both shepherds and fish pie. Really glad I bought it but be aware that it does take up quite a bit of room in the drawer.

L'ho ordinato per curiosità e perché ero stufa del solito scomodo schiacciapatate . Prodotto stupendo, maneggevole e facile da pulire, la plastica e' molto robusta. Funziona benissimo per passare i pomodori per fare il sugo. Sono contentissima del mio acquisto e penso che non sarà l'ultimo di questa marca. Amazon come sempre impeccabile.

Molto bello e facile da pulire.L’unico problema è che a volte durante l’uso, le due componenti si separano.
