ALAIN BOUBLIL/CLAUDE-MICHEL SCHONBERG: MISS SAIGON - PIANO AND VOCAL SELECTIONS

This is a really good selection of songs from Miss Saigon with the vocal lines separate from the piano accompaniments. The accompaniments are reductions from the original full score and generally work well with plenty for the more-advanced pianist. Quite challenging moments which are heightened by the fact that there are many errors in the transcription. These are manifested through a number of chord figurings that are not congruent with the piano part plus a few erroneous accidentals throughout. All easily corrected with a pencil - once you've come across them! But really worth buying.

Whoever typed this book up needs to learn how to read music - a number of the chords written above the score are WRONG - it's not hard to distinguish between major and minor or diminished and augmented chords.The original Miss Saigon book is much better. Don't get me wrong - the music is excellent and I do like the updated lyrics. But if you are planning on buying this particular version, you should ignore the chords, as they are not a 100% accurate indication as to what's on the stave. I plan to use this book, combined with my original score as the lyrics are better in this one, but the music is better in the original, and the original score is much easier to read if you're "sight reading" the Music for the first time. As an avid fan of Miss Saigon, you can never change my opinion of the music, so it's a good book, but I'm not 100% satisfied with this new print of it.

This is great. A lot of these types of songs don't have the harmony but this does.Good purchase.
