La Cie drives are the BEST
I had bought some cheap Seagate drives for my Mac, and when they failed (they only last about 2years) I had to spend a lot of time messing with copying and restoring backups. And ome thing most people don't know is that as your drive begins to fail, it starts by just really slowing things down. So I went for about 3 months trying to figure out why my system was running so slow. LaCie drives are excellent quality. They always have been. I had just gotten lazy and picked up the other drives at Costco. Now that I replaced my cheap drives with the LaCie, I know I won't be having these problems. And the LaCie drives have a super-fast interface.

I haven't had a bad experience with the LaCie d2 Quadra line
I haven't had a bad experience with the LaCie d2 Quadra line. This is the fourth one I have purchase (from 1 TB up to now 5 TB) and will continue to purchase this series in the future. I have to keep buying them because I can't seem to throw anything away, so my storage array is over 10 TB. Only possible complaint is that LaCie is an enabler for my hording tendencies.

Solid drive, but bright blue light
I use this drive for TimeMachine backups on my Macbook Pro. My Macbook is a couple years old so it doesn't have the USB 3.0 port, but this also came with a FireWire cable and did not take long to back up my almost 2TB of data. The initial formatting of the drive was quick and easy. The body of the drive is solid. And it is not too noisy; however, there are some sounds you will notice when the drive is use (most noticeable during the initial backup, so either it's quieter now or I've just gotten used to it).My only con with this drive is the bright blue button on the front of the drive. It is a fairly strong light. This is easy to ignore when working but if your computer is in your bedroom (or a studio apartment), it will illuminate your room at night when trying to sleep. Of course this is only an issue if your prefer a dark room to fall asleep in. An easy fix is to put something in front of the button or tape over it if you do not intend to use it.

I wished this drive won't go in sleep move and despaired from my desktop. Every freaking time, that happens. I have to turned it off and restart again!! That is the ONLY way they will shown my desktop. I never used this brand before, my WD never do that.. Will I purchased it again, maybe not.

I really love this company - great drive
I have 4 of these drives. One is still doing well after 6 years. The company has really awesome support. Spends lots of time with you on the phone and keeps going until they solve the problem, even if it's replaces the drive. It's a good idea to get the extended warranty on HD's.

Works nice!
I just installed it on my Direct TV Genie receiver, and I now have 5 times the storage capacity. Unlike the normal Direct TV HD receiver where a larger hard drive can be installed, I needed an external hard drive on the Genie to increase my capacity. After I got down to 5 percent, it is nice to see 99% capacity. I just have to ignore or hide the annoying blue light.
