Be warned, software updates remove some excellent features!
This is a fantastic value and I would say 'premium' phone (unless you are ardent about internal hardware numbers). It has excellent (now Android 11) clean software, a sublime design, great call and WiFi quality, a stunning oled screen, great huge 4500 MaA battery, good single speaker and five very good cameras on board. It's a very productive device too; not a toy and it's now very reasonably priced for a brand new phone and was cheaper and overall better than my previous two flagship phones of their era.Yes, it has a midrange (but one of the latest Qualcomm 600 series, the 675) processor but this phone is far faster than my three year old LG V30 phone which has a top-spec (of its time) Qulacom 835 processor and my 5 year old BlackBerry passport which had the premium Qualcomm 801 processor and it's against those phones that I'm comparing this one and why I'm frustrated and in some respects, why I'm a little disappointed by the TCL 10 Pro, solely because of what TCL have recently done to their software.Three years ago TCL were still making phones under license for BlackBerry and those phones (such as the KeyOne, Motion and Key2) all had a customisable physical Smart Key which could be programmed with different functions for a single press, a double press and a long press. This TCL and it's siblings such as the TCL 10L and I believe the TCL 10 5G, did the same on launch a year ago, which was a major selling point for me, because I prefer physical buttons to launch my preferred apps or features (coming from a Blackberry)Well, TCL have just removed this feature in their latest update and so the Smart Key is now fixed as the default Google Search button and it can't be changed any more. They have also removed the default Radio app which could be used with a wired headset plugged into the included 3.5mm headphone jack. WHY TCL?I've been searching frantically for a workaround and there may just be a third party app called 'Button Remapper' that will allow you to do it in a less elegant way (and possibly with some risk) and I'm sure a third party radio app can be downloaded to replace the OEM one. There are also still other soft short cuts you can use with the side bar and the finger print reader, but I'm still a little annoyed that TCL would remove some unique features in a time when Samsung phones also hard wire their Bixby button and like Apple have also removed their headphone jacks.Everything else on this phone is fantastic and if it didn't have those two features before, I wouldn't have been so bothered, but I feel TCL have stitched us up, possibly under pressure from Google to provide us with it's spying services and to purchase their multimea services rather than having customisable buttons and a free radio service for their users. Not cool TCL, not cool at all!3 stars because of that, but the handset is still so bloody good for sub £300, I will probably just keep it for another year or so.This is a warning to new buyers though, who may have been relying on those features as I first did.

Decent phone but be warned about promotion
The phone on all accounts works great, but be warned if you are considering this because of the promotion they will do all they can to not honour it. As they seem to have rejected any validity for the promotion for reasons not that don't seem to be stated in their terms but in the short version of the terms contradicts the reason for refusing to honour it as far as I can see. So if you are considering this phone for that reason be careful.**as an additional note they changed the promotion site after the fact to try reinforce their refusal
