Enjoyable read.
This book is one that definitely shows its age. What I mean is how technology has advanced since its original publication in April 1943. This is something that is very obvious and actually adds something to the reading experience. It has an old charm and almost twee-ness to it.The book has a few moralistic types of messages to it and while they may not always clear during the reading, by the end I think I found them. What I thought was that things are not missed until they are gone. As the world has moved forward with advances in science, medicine, and technology it is the basic things in life that we do not realise are around. Another is how the world is perceived through the eyes of a child, being simple, basic and without all the noise of life getting in the way. Also the message of everyone being unique, yes we are part of a society of other people, but we all have our own special qualities that make us special to other people. I think different readers would probably get their own ideas of what this book was trying to tell, but these are my thoughts.I found the story itself to be interesting as I followed The Little Prince from his home to other places before finally meeting a stranded pilot on earth. The pilot is the narrator of this story and recounts what the Prince tells him. At times I did feel a little bit confused as I felt I was missing some of the points that were being made, but as I started to get towards the end things started to become clear. The story has quite a sombre feel to it as it explains how we do not see what is around us as we are so busy rushing around, jobs, shopping meetings all take time. I think this is something most of us can relate to.I did enjoy this story and thought it was very thought provoking. It was easy to get caught up into as I followed the Prince on his travels. The end is open to the readers interpretation of what happened to The Little Prince, I have my own thoughts as to what happened to him in my mind and where I think he went, others may think differently. This possible difference in a readers own interpretation is something that makes this book special. I have read other reviews from other readers and while they do have some similarities, there are some differences.Overall I would recommend this book as I did really enjoy it.

Really beautiful edition/incredible story
A positively stunning edition of a great book. It’s a teeny tiny book, but given the length of the story itself, it feels rather fitting. I bought this as a gift, and wrote in the cover as it makes such a wonderful keepsake. After giving it away I was desperate for my own copy and was luckily gifted it for my birthday. I’d definitely recommend this edition for anyone with sentimental attachment to books.

Designed for the child that young adults (and up) once were.
Very beautifully made with the golden sides which I always love seeing on books. And the embossed design beneath the sleeve is gorgeous. Story is a classic and has an understandable flow, so for me, the translation is good.Illustrations are in black and white yet still worth the buy regardless of the colour. I'm just glad there are illustrations in the book, otherwise it'd be pointless to buy and it wouldn't give the satisfaction to the whole reading experience.I'm sure this edition is aimed more at an older audience i.e. young adults and up, due to the beautiful design and pocket size fit. Therefore for me, as a 20+y.o., it's perfect. So if you, (or someone else you may want to buy it for) are a Young Adult+ looking to treasure a beloved classic book for the child-at heart within then this is a recommended choice.

The Little Prince (Macmillan Collector's Library)
Such a lovely little book, I bought 3 and I am extremely happy with the quality. Like many others I love the Little Prince so much I’ve shared many different editions over the years. This is the nicest for the price range and I love the gold detailing, it adds a neat touch of sophistication that is sure to be a winner especially among my female friends. I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of the collection.

I couldn't engage with this book.
I’m not really a fan of allegories. I believe a tale can be told just as powerfully through good writing without being draped in metaphors and had I known that The Little Prince was such a story I probably would have avoided it.That being said, I didn’t find it a waste of time. I still believed that the messages about the importance of love, friendship and priorities were very true and worthy of reminding. This story is about a pilot who crashes in the Sahara and inexplicably comes across a young boy also out there in the wilderness. The boy is curious, and a curiosity, and over a number of days the get to know each other. This is primarily a children’s book, which is why I didn’t fully engage with it. Some will argue, including the writer, that there’s as much to be gleaned from it by adults too, and I wouldn’t argue with that. However, it’s still a book written for minds of children and the style did grate on me after a while.I won’t be recommending this to anyone but maybe in time, if I have kids of my own, I’ll pick it up again and read it to them.

A Little Beauty
A classic that will continue to enchant I’m Sure. What pleased me so much when this arrived was the book itself. The edges are gilded and it has a dust jacket as illustrated above, however when the dust jacket is removed you will find a pale blue cloth cover to the book beautifully embossed. This little book is a classic and this edition be it a gift or for yourself is as beautiful on the outside as the inside.

Beautiful children's story
Such a beautiful children's story... I'd never heard of it when I was young. So magical, so innocent... Wish that people now we're so kind, considerate and loving as the little prince instead of being greedy, grasping, cruel and unkind...

Patheticslly small
Very disappointing. The book was very small and, therefore, illustrations, where they existed were also extremely small. My wife wanted this to read to the grandkids - she has now bought a different version.
