Last year, I had the pleasure of upgrading my workspace with the SAMSUNG CH890 Series 34-Inch ultrawide monitor, and I must say, it has been a game-changer in every sense of the word. From its crisp display to its sturdy build, this monitor has exceeded my expectations in every way possible.The first thing that strikes you about this monitor is its display. The colors are vibrant, the contrast is spot-on, and the resolution is simply outstanding. The ultra wide aspect ratio adds a new dimension to multitasking, making it a breeze to have multiple windows open side by side (which I do a lot of!).The build quality of this monitor is top-notch. It feels robust and well-constructed, and the ultra-slim bezels give it a sleek and modern look. Setting it up was a breeze, and it fits seamlessly into my workspace. I use it with a mounting arm and it does very well in it's position. Note: It's a standard VESA mount!The picture quality is where this monitor truly shines. This is my first personally-owned monitor over and above a notebook display. I’ve been working with it for the past week or so. I find that it suits my needs (mostly work) very well. The brightness and resolution are such that I can work fairly comfortably with this screen for extended periods. The brightness struggles a bit to keep up in very bright ambient light, but I can always read fine (and just close the blinds a bit). I haven’t yet tried much media, so I can’t yet speak to that experience.The best part is of course the spacious, curved screen. The monitor itself came fairly well packaged and in new condition. I find that the amount of screen to divvy amongst different applications enables much more effective visual organization of workflows, which is great. The hardware itself is also just plainly pretty cool, which makes it all the easier to sit down for work.I have no experience with non-curved ultra wide monitors, so I cannot offer direct comparison. Seems pretty good to me -- I don't think I'd want it another way.A huge plus that I did not consider before purchasing is the USB-C charging, which obviates the need for a notebook charger anywhere near work space most of the time.If you get this monitor, you really should consider getting an arm mount. The included stand is barely fine, definitely more wobbly than mounting the monitor to the table. Also, a good mount helps organize cables and frees up desk space. At the start of the pandemic and working from home I got two $100 Acer R240HY screens for my MacBook Pro. They worked ok but the screen resolution wasn’t amazing, especially for any spreadsheet or text reading and writing. But bigger screens made work easier.Then I upgraded to a MacBook Air M1. And discovered much to my annoyance that it only supports 1 external monitor!After 3 months I had enough of one poor quality Acer R240HY.I spent a few days researching monitor options and landed on a widescreen which essentially gives the MacBook the real estate or 3 external monitors.I can’t believe no one recommends using this as an option for M1!Widescreen is an absolute game changer. I have 3 screens worth of applications running at the same time. The screen resolution is superb (but no where near a Retina display). Really easy to setup via the usb C.The display doesn’t have speakers so if you use it in clamshell you need external speakers or headphones (I don’t use clamshell but do use AirPods).I can’t recommend this monitor highly enough, it transformed my home office setup!

I ordered this monitor and the LG 27UN850-W 27 Inch Ultrafine UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS Display. As an artist and designer, I couldn't see any meaningful difference in the color. The size of this monitor is great and I love the dynamic brightness feature. It's a real eye saver. If you don't know about the dark reader browser extension make sure to get that too. I'm really happy with this monitor. I took off one star because it does flicker every now and then (connected to a M! Mac mini) but other than that it's perfect for me. I did get this on Prime day for $200 off so that really sealed the deal.
